PVD/DLC Durability?

Hey y'all,
Been searching this up the past few days without much luck on finding informative current info. For the reps that feature DLC/PVD coatings what's everyone's experience with durability? Not expecting "gen-type" wear by any means, but trying to figure out if getting a Rep with black DLC effectively relegates it to "wear around house," or really carefully out and about. Appreciate any info/guidance here

Treat them like you would a gen and they should be fine unless you luck out with the lemon of the batch

It's kinda hard to predict per individual rep. Could be great, could be junk. Who knows?

I think on a shitter, I'd probably expect less durability than on a high end piece. But then again, it could also totally be the other way around, in some cases.

Counterfeit industry... Anything is possible. 😂

I think @Rx4Time nailed it—if you’re not abusing your watch, you’ll probably be just fine.

If you need something built for rough use, go for a G-Shock or a solid gen that fits within the rep price range.

What I don’t get is when people wear reps and then complain that the water resistance isn’t 300m like the gen, or that it’s not as shockproof. At the end of the day, it’s a counterfeit—it’s meant to be worn for fun and to appreciate the design. It’s not built for extreme conditions. Treat it with care, and it’ll stay looking good. 😉

Yeah, inline with this I'm a realist. I've got an old Citizen and a G Shock for banging on. What prompted the question was a couple Blaken models (Sub/Batman) and a couple DLC APs I'd come across browsing TD sites. Guess it's mostly just setting expectations for when (if ever) I'll be disappointed I didn't just get steel I could buff with a Cape Cod should need arise

If those are made by reputable factories and you’re not wearing them daily while gardening, fixing cars, or carving rocks with a jackhammer, chances are they’ll last longer than you’d expect. 😆

Holy cow you are one of the lucky ones with the PAM332 Regatta... nice (Is yours the real rattranprante movement?)

Most DLC coated reps (high quality ones) resist scratches to a good extent. PVD is a also OK but maybe a little less good than DLC ones.

Cheers and good weekend.
