Hey,

I am currently looking forward to buying my first Panerai replica, but I am still quite unsure about the exact model.

Well... The two models I instantly fell in love with are the PAM000 and the PAM002! Are there any other models without a separate second hand and a transparent caseback not being PVD / DLC coated?

So, which model has the least flaws, or which one can you recommend and why?

I recently read jaykeem's PAM000 pictorial and the only real flaw I was able to spot was the "L SWISS L" - "L SWISS MADE L" lettering. Is this difference related to the model's year of production or is this seriously just a simple flaw?

Thank you in advance!

As for l Swiss l and l Swiss made l . It's made from different years , read more and you'll be surprise how much information you can find here .

To me it seriously seems like you have to take quite some time to end up with a relatively decent PAM.
COLDI's 002 really is a great deal, but the fake tritium simply ruins it for me...

Which parts did this guy use to get such a beauty?

:D fake watch fake tritium lume , sounds reasonable to me lol . anywayz , coldi's oo2 is as good as it gets especially when its got a fgd dial which is hard to come by . as for the 000 gen vs rep , that thread is from 2008 , if you are really looking for a 000 , H-factory is having one release soon , imo is as close to gen out of the box , without the need to have it mod .

Get a new 112. Simply awesome construction. Don't let the "incorrect dial" fool you, this rep is very, very, very good.

000 is due to be released around the first of the year according to one source because they know the 005 demand is still very high. So why come out with a new one and lose sales?

As far as my 002a...its a rep. If real tritium was used do you know how long it would take for the tritium to age and color like that let alone if you could replicate they....its a fun rep. Mainly the best parts out there. But a rep..

Yea, that might be true... :-D
Do you have any further information on what "soon" exactly means? Are we talking about days, weeks or months?

These are jaykeem's 000 mods:
  • Installed tall CP
  • Modified crown stem to sit closer to case
  • Removed AR on crystal
  • Brobert polished the case and crown
  • Brobert refinished the V CG and lever pin
  • Standard rep crown with 50 teeth and 1.99mm wide
  • Vaclume of dial & hands in C3
  • Silix 000 dial
  • Ted Su croc strap
  • Gen lug screws so its flush to both sides of the watch case lugs
  • Swiss movement

Are these mods still up to date, because the only DSN 000 threads I was able to find are from 2006:

The dial is what kills it man. Why make the dial all off? That is the first thing people recognize. Not the spacing of the cg which so many fret about

My problem with the 112 is the caseback. The incorrect movement is a flaw you can easily avoid. :)

Which model is this supposed to be, frigpig?

112M. The new platinum played movements are also way better than the old ones.

Don't know why it split my post. Looks like Coldi got in just before I pasted my link.;)

I know there is still flaws, but it's a $200 rep. You just can't beat the value.

I would like to know the really major flaws, not the loupe stuff. :)
Flaws you can easily spot when you hold the watch in your hand.

The dial...color is all off. It needs to be off white. movement is low beat not high beat. Canon pin needs to be polished more. top plate is too skinny imo.

Thank you, COLDI!
How difficult is it to source genuine parts for a Panerai?
I am definitely thinking about whether buying the replica is really worth it, because the genuine only costs about 3200€.
What do you think?

I agree with COLDI. Remember the 99.99999% rule?

Unless it's a watch you plan to hand down to your children in the future, there really isn't a huge incentive for getting a gen.

Another situation where a gen trumps a rep? When there's no good rep of it. (eg, ALS watches)

High beat Coldi? :biglaugh: I love you man! This watch has no second hand.

The cannon pin does need a polish and the lume is a wee off.
