Some of you may have heard that a wrecked Spitfire was recently found in the English Channel and brought to the surface. It was indeed Paddy Finnucane's plane. He was shot down early in the war after a raid in France. In a jar under the seat was this watch which appears to have been the prototype for B&R, though the hands and dial face are quite different. If I were a guessing person, I'd guess Peter Gunny inherited the strap design because this one looks remarkably like his--and if anything even more beautiful than his Le Mans style, but specially fabricated fir a B&R.

Wow, so coincidental that although it leaked through the glass and rusted the dial and hands the movement was undamaged!

Amazing, isn't it. I think it has to do with the hyperbaric atmospheric algorithmic serendipity of the saline content of the English Channel and how it reacts to metallurgical properties. So I'm told, at any rate.
