This is the first experience I've had with panerai straps other than standard 24mm reps and gens for 44mm pams so it's a learning curve. So assuming this is a rep strap is there a good source of better quality rep straps closer to gen that have better quality stitching and correct font? The standard rep straps I can spot in an instant. For me the rep Pam watches have far better attention to detail than straps I've seen

If you want Panerai branded straps, you can only go OEM. But one thing to note about the fun of Panerai ownership (and not talking only about reps, it's a gen thing as well) is the abundance of aftermarket straps, with a range of price points from $30 to $300. Take your pick.
