Problem with KW PAM 441

Maybe ask Sora to send you the working movement only (as a spare part), and have it replaced at the local watchsmith?

I had a similar situation with my TD (a nice lady who is not a TD here) buying Tag day date. The watch was not winding properly - the rotor stuck and the crown too. I sent it back for repair. The watch arrived after almost 2 months but was still deffective - the minute hand was loose and the rotor still didn't wind the watch properly.
I just ask her for a refund because I didn't want to spend another 2 month waiting for unpredictable. She said yes, no problem, please send it back to me.
Finally I chose another watch so the refund wasn't necessary.

And this is how the TD should perform IMO.

Ale,

Thank you very much, for your concern and attention in this matter.

I dont wish to fight with anybody. I enjoy the forum and all its members,

I just feel a little frustrated on this.

I didn't complain about the lume (not beeing superlume), i didn't complain about the back crystal (not beeing darkened), BUT this is a functional issue, that was present from day 1.

I have the feeling that moving the watch all over the world and spending money on carriers, will only get things worse, with a high risk degree.

I understand Sora, is a middleman, but KW, as a promising QUALITY factory, could stand in front in this issue and at least offer me the opportunity to buy something else from them.

After all, most of us are returning customers..

My thoughts.

Thank you s3g0y.

I even asked for this option to send me a movement, but Sora said he cannot do that.

Well your experience, was very professional, we should hear the name of your TD, so that he earns the points he deserves.

Hi Gedi

I got an answer from Sora.
Sora says that has offered sending you a new movement when KW has new batch. At this moment they have not yet. It will take some weeks.

Please confirm with Sora if you agree

When you confirmed with Sora I will try to contact KW to get a movement asap.
But I can assure you nothing

Please keep us informed

Send it back and ask Sora to pay for the shipping charges. You spent $ sending it the first time and nothing was fixed so they should pay this time for shipping...only fair thing to do.

I've sent watches back to china many times and usually they are fixed the first time however I have a Rolex GMT I bought years ago...correct hand stack, ceramic bezel and the GMT hand loses time constantly....sent it back three times and it is just as bad now as it was when I first received it. Be sure that you emphasize that the watch must be timed for 48 hours before shipping back to you.

Ale ,

Thank you very much for your immediate involvement in a solution.

Sora, accepted to send me a movement (when KW produces one), in some weeks time, BUT mentioned that IT MIGHT NOT BE, ONLY THE MOVEMENT, that is problematic. It might be a problem with the assemble.

So, he said that is better to send him the watch, so that they fix themselves.

I agreed to send him the watch, again , (he refunded me 25$ for EMS shipment).

My concern is, that this will take a lot of time, until its fixed and have it back, AND i cannot be totally sure, that this time, they will fix the problem.

I bought the watch between June/July. I have not wear the watch even one day, since the day i bought it, due to the problem.

I asked many times Sora, to refund me the money, in my next purchase, and give the watch back to KW, as this was not a movement breakdown, but a problematic watch from the beginning.

Unfortunately, he refused.

Yes, Gedi, Sora told me also he was afraid about another problem leaving aside movement, but I trusted about your comments after your visit to the watchsmith.

At this point, I think you should have a precise diagnostic about the issue of the watch in order to take the correct way

Please try to contact a watchsmith not for repairing but to get a diagnostic:
1- It is a movement issue?
2- It is another issue?

I think that a good watchsmith can say that in few time.
With the reply we will decide.
Without the correct diagnostic this is a lottery

I understand your frustration but this is the rep world and erveryone with more ten reps have passed for this situation some times.

When we have more info I will try to help you with KW and Sora, if possible

Good luck again

Ok Ale thanks again for your active involvment.

i spoke again with my watchsmith.

He said the problem is inside the movement,(in the hour transmission part) and with a new movement he can fix the watch locally.

But what if he is wrong? Watchsmiths involvement with replicas is limited here.

What will happen if the problem isnt solved?

Can you advise on that? will i have the opportunity after to send the watch to Sora to fix?

The movement A7750 is completely the same as a ETA 7750, many parts are interchangeable, your watchsmith doesn't need special knowledge about replicas. You should remove decorations of course.
Watchsmith can be wrong, but he is the most authorized word at this moment !
We have no better info.

Regarding Sora, ask him about this matter, but I think he will send you the movement and then he will leave it under your responsibility.

I could try to get fixed the watch from KW after that, but it would be at your expenses. Too much money

Where are you located?

Man, just my 2 cents, but if I were you I'd take that $25.00 refund, ship that baby back tomorrow, and once they get it I'd start a brand new conversation.
I'd say, okay fellas, you owe me a good working watch or a refund...what do you want to do?

Why is this kind of thing of dealers refusing to take real responsibilities allowed from time to time ?
If we, as a forum members, fans, and customers can not be guaranteed of protection from DOA watch, how can they be called td. Why don't we put some probation or something like at least temp account lock down when anyone us get a doa watch and dealer refuse to pay shipping charge, failed to do a proper repair, refusing to refund or even refund half of it ?

That would be fair, but unfortunately rep things are not working like that at this moment
I hope competition and buyers pressure get some changes in the current rules.
It is possible that in some moment a dealer gives some kind of "guarantee" and then all dealers will apply it, like happened with QC pics. That will mean some increase of price of course, but can be the foreseeable future. But future.

Rep industry is not likely going to change, unless at least forum owners decide to apply a more strict rules.
Especially on the topic of DOA WATCH.

Why would anyone move from comfortable state of heaven to hell, if no one forces them to ?

In all fairness to the TD's....a watch that arrives DOA is usually not the fault of the TD. Sure, a TD has a responsibility to send out a working watch (QC pics show this) but once the watch leaves the factory it is at the mercy of the postal service (which can be brutal).

In my experience and from what i've read from others, most of the TDs here will give you a sort of unspoken/unwritten guarantee that if the watch arrives DOA, the buyer has the option to ship the watch back (risk seizure) and have it repaired or find a watchsmith locally and split the cost with the TD or receive credit for a future purchase. This is as close to a guarantee that I can think of and seems pretty reasonable given the context in which business is being done.

Remember, the TDs are not the factories so they do not have an endless amount of watches in stock. Most of the time the TDs call the factories and drop ship the watches (meaning, they don't even see the watches themselves). It would be super costly for the TDs (who don't carry stock) to offer guarantees when they don't have replacement watches at the ready and would create more "issues" for TDs from unhappy customers (who might receive a good working watch but decide they don't like it for various other reasons).

Look, I agree that there should be some more added protection for buyers but given the nature of this hobby and the fact that selling reps is illegal I think it's easy to understand the importance of lowering ones expectations when it comes to guarantees from TDs.

For the most part, I think the TDs are doing a pretty good and honest job. Most issues tend to be resolved.

As ALE said above, the rep industry is not at a place at the moment where it is financially feasible for them to offer "guarantees". Hopefully they will soon.

I had the Gen 441. Dont worry the lume is not as good as any 111 , 127, 005...
It just seems weaker.

Try to do a search, i have posted a review on the Gen 441.

I had this problem with A7750. It was almost whole movement disassembly tour for my watch smith since it had something to do with friction clutch where seconds hand kept working while "main" hands tend to stop. Repaired :)
