I don't think a 2mm difference is that much important and a working chrono is much more.
But if it bothers you can sand the rehaut to lower the crystal and rework the caseback a bit ... you could gain about 1.5mm

The thickness doesn’t bother me actually! I have the Omega CrPO and that’s thicker and heavier.
The Daytona is actually light compared to, that so it doesn’t feel thick on my wrist. It feels no difference from wearing a Sub, but definitely wears slightly smaller as the Daytona is only 38.5mm.
Some people prefer a more gen-like case structure while others prefer working chronos (even though most don’t actually use the chronos!!) — so to each his own.
I obviously chose the working chronos over a more gen-like case
