Hmmmm, you could modify the A7750 to just be running seconds at 9 (most of the auto PAMs use a 7750-based movement). However, not sure any dials would fit (the 44mm 1950 case has a bigger dial area than the normal Luminor 44mm case), even if they DID fit, it would be a fantasy watch.

The problem you're looking at is that there are no good reps of non-chrono auto PAMs that have display case backs. Something has gotta give...

Well thank your for being so honest though - at least I won't be chasing clouds.

There are some terrific reps of the 111 that I've seen in here. Are there other really good reps, or is it like "111 or nothing if you want a really good rep"?

Nope, there are lots of great reps. The "Ultimate" PAM104s are really good reps and are autos. Same with the "Ultimate" PAM199 and PAM252. All of those are steel casebacks, though.

Oh, the "Ultimate" PAM088 is a good rep, too.

That 104 looks NICE If only that ugly magnifying glass wouldn't be over the date... And it an auto.

So - although not being genuine - this would be "it" for me then: a modded 104 (CG, AR, relumed, pin etc. etc. etc. bells and whistles) with a straight sapphire crystal (NO mag.). That's possible, right?

You'd have to replace the crystal in order to get one without the cyclops (and then it would be incorrect to gen), but yes.
