Picking up direct from China (or buying from a watch market).

I am likely travelling via China at some point early in the new year. Has anyone picked up a replica in China from one of the trusted sellers suggested on here? (Will either be going to Guangzhou, Shangai or Shenzhen). And/or bought from one of the counterfeight markets?

There is no replica watches market physical stores in China, you can only communicate with TD to meet and trade.

TDs typically try to avoid personal contact with strangers, for obvious reasons. If you want to get in touch and aren't already friendly with a TD, expect some reluctance.

Markets (mostly bazar-style) do exist, but you will be entering a rather slippery slope, unless you can easily identify the different factories (usually a skill acquired over a longer period of personally handling many reps and reading a lot plus a lot of other related research).

Otherwise, the chance to be taken advantage of by a shady merchant wo will sell you an 80 bucks shitter as "real VSF/CF/ZF with a Swiss made movement" is probably just as a high as it is in Thailand, Croatia, India, Dubai or Turkey.

Really great point - I am definitely not confident enough to judge. I would be interested to have a look around but as you say, the risk is too high.

Welcome to the RWI Forums & Community!

Unlike back in the early 2000s where dealers will still meet up in the market and pass watches and have chats over tea of coffee, nowadays we do not do meet ups at all. This is to protect our safety. Over the last 7-8 years, there have been too many raids and cases that have changed the entire way of doing business in China, at least for the replicas market (Branded watches & bags/accessories alike). Only clothes are still deemed as not too touchy but there are raids at the wholesale markets from time to time (even for CASIO rep dealers... mind you)

However, there are some night markets you can get some stuff from (operate 7pm till late at night), Google and you can find the places.
You will not find very high end stuff because most dealers on the streets wont have that much money to hold bunch of 100 pcs VSF stocks that costs like at least RMB2000 costs upwards. Mid end and high end stuff do appear on some small occasions.

As the friend above said, you go to the probability will be "as a pig slaughter", with imitation clena, imitation ppf, imitation 3kf ... cheat you, and you are sure that you can distinguish the difference between these real and imitation?As far as I know a lot of Chinese replica dealers can't tell the difference themselves.You figure it out for yourself!It's okay to go for a bit, but guard your wallet and don't be fooled by flowery words, after all, you won't be able to find him either.

There are markets and there are reps displayed. Not China but I was in Singapore this year and there was three stalls selling reps in ChinaTown. Utter shit.
I am guessing it will be similar in China.

Makes me remember North Africa souks where you can sometimes be « highly encouraged » to buy a multiple thousand euro « artisanal » carpet…or Spain coast where you suddenly are owner of a timeshare apartment…all because you just went in to see in curiosity
