By who?
98% of people won't notice you even wear a watch.
Of the last 2%.
98% of them won't consider it might be a fake.
Of that 2% of 2%.
98% of them won't know what model comes in what material.
Worry less, very few have held good reps, even less have hands on with gens, if you're happy with it, be happy with it. Mostly the reason anyones watch is obviously a rep is not a tell, it's the wearer.

Agreed 100% with all of that, the last sentence is bang on.

IMO, and in UK, if ever someone is gonna get called out on a watch it's usually gonna be a Rolex, more so Submariners ...........
Because the kinda oiks who will call folks out on watches whilst they are wearing their $10 market shitter have all heard of Rolex and seen their peers selling knock offs / snides / fakes, (notice my terminology there) I don't class $50 DHG shit as a replica ;)

I have been called out by a pissed twat once when I was wearing a Gen 2 tone Bluesy, I was in my overalls and called into a town pub one afternoon to return the Pub owners Car after some work :ROFLMAO:
I just laugh at 'em and if they are a real pain in the arse they get fucked off outta it.
A decent enthusiast is a different story, happy to tell them whether they are right or not and discuss watches with them.

The other tell is that we've half a dozen or more.

I'm on decent money, maybe you'd believe I would buy a Seamaster or even a Sub. I could certainly afford it.

But a Seamaster, three Subs, a GMT, a Daytona and a 5711? That's the catch isn't it?

Another assumption, a customer of mine (I'm an IT tech) will occasionally ask me to sort something at his house, if he's there he will be in flip flops, Sports Direct shorts, a plain tee shirt and an Royal Oak Offshore!
The half million £ worth of cars in the yard to say nothing of the couple of millions worth of house leads me to presume it's real.
But if you saw him in the shop you'd absolutely say it was a replica cause everything else he's wearing cost £50 max.

Personally, I wouldn't, because that sounds similar to me and a lot of folks I know ;)

I've not got that much net worth these days, but yeah, Mel and I spent most of our coin as we earned it whilst younger. Supercars, big house, powerboats, flying, various waterskiing disciplines, second home log cabin on the waterski lake etc etc. Our kids are all settled and middle aged now.

We don't regret any of that though, we now live in a humble old croft house on a large plot beside Loch Duich, I still own some nice Cars, some of which are WIP restorations / special builds.

Thing is these dayz, we are both early 60's, but 30's to 50's we were wild, did just about everything back then, and now we are old and riddled with arthritis etc we have no regrets, we may have had more money, but would have regretted not travelling, not doing all those wild things etc had we not done them whilst we could.

I'm still earning reasonalble money from the wee specialised one man band garage business I started a few years back, but obviously these post Covid days it's pretty hit and miss ........

Can't take it all wi' us though when we pop our clogs, we are grateful we still have a nice and these days more sedate life ;)
