Pelagos ZF vs. V6 - is there a consensus?

I've searched and read every thread. A lot of the threads refer to the old pricing of the ZF which made the ZF look way overpriced. Now that the ZF is only $20-30 more than the ZF which one do I go for?

I think it comes down to which flaws you can live with.

I ended up getting zf as the bezel lume application is much better also like seems to be better from pics.

Yeah the v6 has the pointed crown guards and bezel numerals are spaced more like the gen but from members pics the bezel lume application seems sloppy and the dial markers seem poorly applied.

So far I'm happy with my zf. Granted I've only had it two days but it's keeping great time and looks fantastic plus the lume is awesome.

Clasp could be better but it's a rep and it cost 10% the price of the gen so I can't really compare the two in terms of function and finish. The self adjusting part doesn't really function as it keeps slipping back to the last fixed position.

There truly isn't a consensus... ZF is supposedly nicer build quality but the spacing is a huge tell. Right now I've settled on getting neither.

The ZF is way better in build quality.

The V6 use poor quality titanium all over and crown tube and threading is poor and probably will strip after a while.
The lume is much brighter on ZF and its white not a cream tone that the V6 have. The crown guards is correct for the earlier Gen Pelagos . The only larger flaw worth mention on the ZF is the bezel spacing between no's. if you have luck to have one with ok aligned dial markers its killing the V6.

The black color of dial/center of hands is to matte on V6 and don't give the right feeling. The ZF dial is very good (except dial marker position in some case)

Quality of rubber strap is poor/junk on the V6 also clasp have bad engravings compared to the ZF on the bracelet. ZF end links are superior to V6.

I say the ZF is still worth at least 100$ more than the V6 so with today's price my choice which to keep from them was very clear.

Interesting. Now I want both to compare. Well, I already ordered the V6 from Sora so we'll see. I can always flip it and get the ZF.

I managed to sort my clasp so it works perfectly now. I stretched the springs out a little and added rubber gaskets that I cut to fit on the ends of the spring bars inside the clasp now it slides very smoothly and doesn't slip at all.

I say zf is the way to go. No one is going to call you out unless they're a dick or a dick of a rep enthusiast. Lol

I'm waiting on the zf v2, very disappointed with the finish and qc on the v6 which is sadly unacceptable at that price point

Interesting. Can you detail what is unacceptable? There's not much consensus between v6 and ZF so I'm curious what you see. You know when ZF v2 will be out?

The indices look like they've been lined up by a 4 year old - very inconsistent, and the finish is quite cheap looking compared with the zf which to be fair is much more gen like. Lume is also patchy and poor - this is not a cheap rep so you expect much better.

I have no idea when or whether there will be a v2 but if zf get the bezel number spacing right I will pull the trigger.

Yes, V6 finishing can be very inconsistent but that is where QC photo play a part. My first V6 QC photo was horrible. Crooked 3 o clock indice and terrible bezel lume application. I give the vendor a lecture and with some patient. The 2nd QC batch delivered near perfect by the vendor.

Main problem for V6 is bezel lume application as their bezel engraving is not that shallow. Other than all the flaws which you mention can also been found on ZF version like badly applied hr index. Yes, the crown guard is lesser finish on V6 compare to ZF with sharper edge but some small modification like removing the crown and do some basic fling will helps alot. In terms of bracelet differences, ZF and V6 is not that far.

I will still get the V6 if I need to decide again. At least, they can get some basic things like gen like bezel numeral spacing which is very critical in depicting a real Pelagos. The low quality V6 rubber strap is not a big concern as I intend to get a high quality after market leather strap to go with it or stick with the metal bracelet.

Overall, V6 still offer a great Pelagos and is in the right step in replica a gen.

speaking of the bezel.... well looks like my entire bezel fell off the watch! [emoji57] Does anyone know exactly what parts I need? Do I need the click spring?

There should be a slot in that flat ring where a small pin/cap goes through for the clicks. the link suggests using BIC lighter springs if you loose any of the teflon/rubber tubes

make sure to use the other tubes as references for spring height so you won't have a lob-sided bezel when you re-attach it

Personally, I have went through 5 ZF on QC and I have rejected them all. I have not being very lucky with the dial and also the marker on the GEV.
The markers are really bad, in most of them not only one marker that is misalligned, normally 3-4 markers.
I am thinking of changing my order to a V6F or other watch.
I am really dissapointed to say the least
