So I got it :) There are some quick notes about VSF new PAM 213 Rattrapante:

MOVEMENT:

It is probably a copy or some heavily inspired solution, I guess it is based on Dubois-Depraz module with column wheel under dial (@9). I guess this movement wasn’t developed for reps at first place - more like „we got these movements so we can do some reps with it” opportunity. It is just what it is - proud Chinese Rattrapante movement and we should expect it in some legit Chinese watches soon:

- it is 7750 based

- when winding it by hand - the impression is „it is smooth” way beyond usual Asian 7750 - like genuine 7750 feel

- chrono start and reset pushers are working usual 7750 way - you need to apply a bit of pressure to trigger actions

- rattrapante button works smoothly, requiring half a power when comparing with other buttons - column wheel quality operation. It switches secondary chrono hand between two modes: keeping it synchronised with main seconds chrono hand or to set it to „not engaged” mode where it stays where it is.

- you can switch between these modes regardless chrono being used - so it is possible to start chrono with secondary chrono hand not leaving it’s post at 12 until you switch it into synchronised mode.

- despite above - you cannot reset chrono to zero position without realigning both hands first

- I spent almost two hours paying with the chrono - 30 seconds of working with one stop of rattrapante before stop and reset. So, it think I did it about 150 times and - no damage! All that during watching Mr.Church with a wife, annoying her to death with it :D

- good, repeatable quality of synchronisation of primary and secondary chrono needles. They gets aligned very well.

- the minute chrono counter increases exactly in the moment chrono hands gets by 12!! It is not usual rep A7750 behaviour. Another hint there is something „wrong” with this being regular Asian chrono…

CASESET:

- in my opinion on level higher than H-factory’s PAM 212. Especially between lugs and so on.

- rattrapante button should not be protruding so much to be as per gen

- quality feel when unscrewing caseback - good, matching threading you can feel perfect

- all seals - bone dry, as usual.

SAPPHIRE:

- definitely more distortions on edges when comparing to gen 213 photos or to H-factory’s PAM 212 (mineral glass)

- distortions are a bit bigger than H-factory PAM 332 with sapphire (was available as optional update)

- in my opinion distortions order from gen-level to worst level are: gen - H-fac 212 mineral glass - H-fac PAM 332 with sapphire - VSF PAM 213 sapphire.

- personally I like it - it gives so „vintage” effect but is not as per gen. Glaring flaw? No… it is acceptable.

DIAL & HANDS:

- on par with H-factory ones. good enough :)

- primary and secondary chrono hands are very well aligned but they’re both not perfectly aligned to dial’s 12 o’clock marker (a fraction of the second to the clockwise side).

- luminova - on par with recent H-factory reps (sausage dials) - both power and application quality

STRAP:

- ok quality leather strap with carbon-fibre stamp

- ok deployant

CONCLUSIONS:

- I might be happy camper with this watch since I smell better quality of movement they used in these 80 pieces or so…

- real rattrapante in a rep, in my watch anyway :D Observing watch without reading time user mode ;)

- price… new price territory for PAM reps but not unheard of in other reps, like AP etc.

BOTTOM LINE:

- Joshua wrote me the maker is having hard time considering continuing of production, due to the costs. So it might be I have the rep even rarer than gen :D

Nice review, what's the price point of these?
It's not good to hear production could already be stopping, a real rattrappante chrono is a huge step forward in the rep game imho.

price around $680.

I joked with Joshua that I am going to make "stress test" of chrono and if it fails - I will ask him to replace the watch :) He said there would be probably a problem with replacement since chances are there will be no more of it since the maker struggles with the idea of continuing of manufacturing. The word is these units are below profitability point due to expensive movement...

So does that mean I'll get the one that I've paid for , I hope so !

Sounds like the movement is solid!

Ok I'm still on track ! But you maybe right about a limited run

Great review once again!

How's the dial print , it looks a bit thicker than h-fac

Shame about the crystal.

But the big news- you telling me the complication seems pretty reliable , that's Bigly, Bigly ! :)

Great Review as always!
It will be a shame if the production will be limited to just 80 pieces.
Wear it in health!

It's like the Noob PAM127/217 situation all over again. They stopped producing it due to high costs. But eventually we did get improved versions from KW and ZF of both reps a few years after. Let's hope the factory (VSF?) does reconsider that decision. They are just starting to make a name for themselves, it would be a pity to fumble the ball so early in the game.

thanks for the review!

I'm glad I ordered mine ;) interesting idea that these are real 7750 modified movements... maybe they rep the rep in the future?

Interesting review, thanks for sharing.
I was afraid about the movement but looks like I was wrong.

@PolonusTM is this mechanically blocked?

...it's so hard to wait. :shok:

hm... still nothing from Andrew (okay he wrote Wednesday to Friday this week) but it's hard to believe
that this thread went to side 3... Is it because it costs twice the price of a standard PAM rep?

For me this watch is one of the most desireable Panerai reps ever.

Thanks @PolonusTM for this nice and detailed review, as always
Now we have a clearer idea about this new movement

Unfortunately I think the costs are very high to be produced but mainly to be produced with reliability
Thanks again

Stunning piece, looks great! To bad the maker will not continue making this nice replica, i've considered buying one during 2017 :(
