Hi Pam.Fanatic

If you are really a Pam.Fanatic you are in the best place: the RWI PAM Section.

Actually if you ask any question in the forum you will have replies from all kind members who want to reply your question.

The PAM CONSULTING TEAM is a group of PAM expert members who have expressed that they are willing to help you, and you will have many replies from the PCTeam members.
This TEAM is also asked to participate in all threads related to Evaluation of replicas and to improve and modify the Reference PAM REVIEW-GUIDE which is a work in progress, to be completed, and useful for all members learning or consulting about PAM or buying PAM replicas. Consult below link and you will have a lot of replies to your first questions:
"Reference PAM REVIEW-GUIDE" - Replica Search, Identification, Evaluation & Selection
The PCTeam members will also start interesting threads about PAM replicas, news, new releases, comparisons,etc...
All missions and purposes of the PCTeam are not yet well defined because we have just set up the Team and only started to work.
Anyhow, if you ask some question about PAM in a Thread you surely will have a lot of replies from members of the PCTEam, myself included, of course.

Welcome to RWI and enjoy the forum, you will find here a lot of friends to help you.

Regards
ALE

Rwolf new PCTeam member

Please give a warm welcome to Rwolf as a new member of our PCTeam.

I’m glad announcing this deserved nomination.
Rwolf has published a lot of posts in RG concerning PAMs and has a very good knowledge about PAMs gen and rep. Nowadays, as you can see, has started to participate in our RWI forum with interesting opinions and helpful posts.
Due to his knowledge and his active participation has deserved this nomination.

I hope that he will continue actively participating in the future and will be a great asset to our PCTeam.

Welcome Rwolf !! and thank you for accepting this nomination.

Am I ok to post some general questions about panerai here? :)
Please do know, that I am relatively new to the watches world. But I had learned a lot from this site :)

- There are so many models of panerai, yet I still have troubles differentiating them, they all looks almost the same to me LOL. In the gen world of panerai differences of one model to another that looks identical is $1000-$3000. I really have trouble as to decide which model suits perfectly to my needs and wants. How and where should I look for big lists of pam models with descriptions so that I don't have to research and look for individual models that don't interest me ?

- I also don't understand general pam enthusiasts favor of manual winding over automatic. Why is it so? Isn't automatic more convenient than you have to wind your watch and catch current time every morning?

- Does the power reserve of all these reps works like they advertised "works exactly like genuine 1:1" ? Saw some panerais with 8 days power reserve.

- why do some pams have "reg/tm" engravings on its crown guard and some do not? Is it the same with the gens? Do all the reps here that dont have that engravings means the same gen model don't have too?

- How many models are there with; power reserve, automatic, nude/clear case back ?

Thanks in advance for answering me! :)

Quartz is more convenient, so why get an automatic if you want convenience?
Manual is fun, you give it a little pumping once in a while, gets you more time to play with your toy, etc..

- Does the power reserve of all these reps works like they advertised "works exactly like genuine 1:1" ? Saw some panerais with 8 days power reserve.

Most of the manual have 6497 and the PR of a chinese is almost the same as a swiss
Most of the automatic have 7750, even the one without chrono, and the PR is good on the simple version.
No market rep with 8 days PR, some modded vintage have gen Angelus, which is the same movement the gen used to have (big big bucks)

- why do some pams have "reg/tm" engravings on its crown guard and some do not? Is it the same with the gens? Do all the reps here that dont have that engravings means the same gen model don't have too?
Reg/tm is on the 1950 (more roundish case), not on the Betarrini (more squarish case) same as gens

- How many models are there with; power reserve, automatic, nude/clear case back ?

Rep or gen? You'll find a rep of the 090 with an open case back while the gen as a closed one.

Wow. I just signed up here and there is too much information. My head literally hurts. I'm basically looking to buy a Panerai rep that I can take apart, beat the hell out of, and put back together. I want it to look like it's been through hell and back.

My question for you fine gentleman is this: What model Panerais have been around since WW2? What new models are similar to them? I know I wont be able to get it exact, but I'd like mine to at least look similar.

Also, I know there are A LOT of rep sellers that sell them. Would it be possible for you to tell me which you prefer and why? Currently I'm leaning towards Silix. It looks like he has the lowest prices. Maybe you get what you pay for, but I don't care about the movement that much and I'm planning on beating the hell out of the watch anyways.

Thanks
