I got PAM 380 n from Joshua. It is my own milestone on the way to accept what Fiddy will be to me ;)

PAM 380 was announced during SIHH 2011, as a new base Radiomir 45mm. This entry level Black Seal is different from the prior Black Seal models such as the PAM183 because this version has the Pre-V OP logo on the dial. The PAM380 is a regular production stainless steel watch with black dial from the Historic Collection (sausage dial). Calibre OPII, which is basically ETA 6497/2, 21bps, with PANERAI wording all over the bridges and Incablock shock protection.

A lot of Paneristi found this watch to be "lacking" when comparing to their expectations. Another Unitas based watch, too busy dial and so on. Others found it great to have that pre-Vendome logo. Me included ;) It is kind of wrong to call the watch nice or beautiful. To me it has something called 'grace'. Like an elegant, classic woman's dress or something like that. Like tuxedo. Grace is the word for it.

The H-factory was very close to the gen with this one. They even prepared GEN to REP photo comparison.

I met a friend of mine a few days ago, which actually own gen PAM 380, but not wearing one during the meeting. Since he knows I am into reps, I did not hesitated to hand over H-factory PAM 380 to him and ask "what do you think about this level of replication?". He took it and pointed that rep strap (the cheapest black one) is not so good but the watch - he said, "look, I KNOW it is a fake but now I think I will ask you to buy me one, just as a backup. Maybe there is something wrong about the PANERAI font on the dial but I am not sure at all…". That's how good it is…

The movement in the rep is standard A6497 from the age just-before-Platinium-bridges. Rock solid, keeps great time OTB.

This is a kind of technology test - tried to use iPad 3 for the HD recording. Switch to full screen, set the playback to the highest quality and enjoy.

Meanwhile I ordered new strap from our Orloff - the strap master. Since I wanted something on the strap to "talk" to the dial - I found some green nubuck strap and asked Mario about possibility to make such nubuck strap for me and my 380. I was lucky, the leather was still in. Awaiting the strap...

Can you imagine 380 on this 'Hulk'?

Only real difference I can see is the spacing between the r & a on Panerai, other than that excellent replication, love the HD movie, as you really see the texture on the dial:)

Interesting thing is that RA kerning is wrong here BUT i.e. correct for 292. Just that "Panerai thing" ;)

Ano such a small error, but heh who cares, these Are outstanding value for money. How's the lug screws, I know previous models has issues, so might be worthwhile checking the screws and maybe securing with some loctite just to be on the safe side, thanks for sharing:cheers:

Here we go, [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thread-locker-Medium-Strength-Blue/dp/B0045UQ8GQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1345316279&sr=8-3"]Thread locker Medium Strength Blue 6ml: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31x4WGgelhL.@@AMEPARAM@@31x4WGgelhL[/ame]

There is also red loctite [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Loctite-Lock-Acting-Thread-Sealant/dp/B003ZUXQIA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345316279&sr=8-1"]Loctite 243 Lock 'n' Seal Fast Acting Thread Lock and Sealant 3ml: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51kAAuPhkxL.@@AMEPARAM@@51kAAuPhkxL[/ame] but I believe blue would be the best to use, maybe someone can chime in and confirm.

Hi Polonus
Many thanks for the review
This is the kind of jobs we need from the PCTeam, although they are compiling or recovering information or pics from other sources

I will include it in PAM REVIEW-GUIDE
I have added *PCTeam* in the tittle. If you don't like it I will remove it

ALE

Here we go, Thread locker Medium Strength Blue 6ml: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools

There is also red loctite Loctite 243 Lock 'n' Seal Fast Acting Thread Lock and Sealant 3ml: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools but I believe blue would be the best to use, maybe someone can chime in and confirm.

Two lockers are BLUE (Loctite has external red but the real colour is Blue) and two are medium resistance to be able to remove with manual tools.
The price is almost the same becuse Loctite has half volume.

I personally have more confidence with Loctite

Hi, my pleasure :) I expected PAM 380 to be quite "old" and "known" here, so did not wanted to reinvent a wheel. I am proud this eye candy got *PCTeam* badge. My next review will have all expected details, I suppose :)

That strap will look awesome on that watch!

Why do I have to make this post over and over again! ;)

NEVER USE RED LOCTITE ON A WATCH!

Blue isn't much better. It's designed to hold medium sized bolts like say 1/4in ones.

The ONLY Loctite to use on small fasteners is "the purple". It can be removed with minimal effort and holds great.

Hi frig my friend
Please. Don't be annoyed :):)
I have the same opinion as you !!
Read this post placed by myself almost a year ago:
http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showpost.php?p=818401&postcount=112

Below the copy in QUOTE:
Thanks watchfaker for the interesting and difficult to find pic !!
Awesome crystal !

BTW: the chosen Loctite 222ms is the correct one.
Link Loctite:
http://www.loctite.sg/sea/content_data/93818_222MSEN.pdf
It is a very specific Loctite to the locking and sealing threaded fasteners which require easy dissasembly.
Please noobs don't make mistake with other Loctite type Superglue or similar

You have take risks making a H screwdriver!
The H screws are very delicated!! You would need a very good screwdriver.
If you have time and patience you can have a good screwdriver from puretime:
http://puretimewatch.com/product/special-screw-driver-for-hublot-big-bang/

Therefore I agree with you

But bear in mind that 222 is a professional Loctite and the 243 is the "domestic" or bricolage version for medium lock, 243 is valid too but the 222 is the best choice, of course.

What should be done to the crown?

Proper length crown tube? You mean - it is too long? It just varies on the gen, too.

I'm afraid the shallow engraving you say is in the GEN... LOL:biglaugh:

Yes, I think so. Watch with label=>gen
But it is a focus problem IMO

Crown in rep seems good. Isn't it?
