Mineral Glass is a watch industry buzz word for heat treated glass.

Sapphire crystal, on ALL watches, regardless, of make is Synthetic. Natural sapphire is far too rare, and not large enough, or pure enough for watch crystals.


If someone tries to sell you a timepiece with "real". or Genuine" Sapphire, rather than synthetic, they are feeding you a sales gimmick of a line. Period!

Interesting because Trusty advertises the mineral crystal as Synthetic Sapphire and the upgrade is called genuine sapphire.

Mineral Glass is melted and fused SAND. Go look out the window. Your looking thru Mineral Glass.

As I said. Sales Gimmick, or they simply don't' know what the hell they are talking about!

Now here is the BIG problem, or the Gorilla in the room. There is a Huge difference in quality of Sapphire glass. We get a much lesser grade in our reps. And this is exactly why a Gen looks almost invisible. Or like at times, a a Black Hole. Where our reps nearly have a slight haze to them.

In truth, a good quality mineral glass, although much more susceptible to scratches, will be clearer than most rep Sapphire crystals. It is just one of the things we have to put up with in the world of Reps.

The way around this is to buy a Gen Watch, or at least the Gen Crystal.

I have both, and can assure you that the difference is quite evident on most reps. Some are getting better. But it is a long time coming.
