I'm excited about these new 42mm's coming out, since it seems the quality of the 40mm reps has been thoroughly documented as being sub-par - I just have one question, and please bear with me since I am a newbie, I really am trying to navigate the enormous amount of information in here.

If I were to buy a 512 (or even a 337, 338, 523 etc.) - would the strap of a regular 44mm pam rep fit them?? Or would I have to buy straps specific to the the 42mm's??

The reason I ask, is that if I decided to pull the trigger and get one of these 42mm reps, I'd like to have a strap with a deployant buckle (which I like slightly better than regular tang buckles) - would this be possible? Is this something I could request to the seller?? Where would be the best place to find the best possible (most gen looking) deployant buckles (and straps) compatible with this sized watches??

Any and all info you guys can provide is most welcome and appreciated.

The 512 comes with a 22mm strap as opposed to a 24mm that comes with a 44mm PAM.

Aha... I see, thanks a mil Legger. Would that mean the deployant buckles for the 22mm straps should also be slightly smaller than those that would go on the 24mm straps???

I have not seen an OP 20mm deployant buckle, although I would imagine third party options would be available.

I'm sure its one of those 'hiding in plain sight" sort of things... but for the life of me I haven't been able to find a a single one, OP (preferably) or otherwise. I hadn't realized the amount of 'strap' literature out there... so it is kind of daunting - any guidance as to where to look is appreciated!

I'm really thinking about getting a couple of 42mm PAMs & deployant buckles would really do it for me... per usual, thanks for the advice and comments!

Well done mysterio an excellent report on the PAM512,the photo's were of great clarity, the wrist shots are what really helped me to decide that this was an excellent choice for someone with smaller wrists.
i love to wear a classy dress watch on formal occasions and like a watch to be bold enough to make a statement on the wrist so it stands out, generally this only happens with a large watch but large watches aren't classy on a small wrist however the PAM512 looks fantastic as it makes that classy statement by being slim, elegant and refined by itself because of it's highly polished case and crisp sharp face detailing against the jet black face, this watch looks big and bold and makes a statement whilst actually being a sensible comfortable size on a small wrist,I have had many comments whilst wearing mine, and people are well impressed when shown a mechanical movement, this always sets up a discussion as everyone just assumes it's a quartz watch,I have had many friends searching for a mechanical movement in their future watches after seeing mine, this helps keep true watchmaking alive.
I do own some quartz watches but only because they are fantastic statement watches which again get attention but I'm reluctant to promote quartz,I hate them but that's only because of my mechanical engineering background for all things precision and beautiful.
One other thing,I never EVER tell anyone that any of my watches are Replica's,not because I'm a pompous or pious person but because it kills of the interest and the conversation and mystic of the watch stone dead.
NEVER let on guys or everyone will be wearing Reps and there will be no interest in the wonderful art of watch making at all.

Panatime sells non-branded 20mm look-a-likes.

They also have brushed version if you prefer.

I've had it for a couple of months. Haven't got any wrist time yet, as I couldn't stand the rep croco strap (it feels like made from cardboard, so ugly)
But today I received genuine black croco leather strap from vietnamese strap maker:

I think it's gonna on my wrist for a while now.

I have pam337 and it has same movement as this pam512. When handwinding, it does not have a full end stop like 6497, so its hard to know if its fully wound. You would only know if its like already slipping and there's a lil bit of added force or resistance when winding.
Power reserve is around 40++ hours.

These VN straps are a nice addition and good value for the buck.

It's a pity that the movement is that bad...I really like the Radiomir 1940

Great review, thanks! I was off these forums for a while, had no idea that the PAM512 replicas were out until I saw this.

Thank you @mysterio, great review!

Reviving this old thread to ask about the movement.

How reliable has the movement been?

If the movement dies, what are the options?

Unfortunately, due to the watch being incompatible with my strap collection, I decided to let it go to a new home. Also, as the movement was not dissected, we are not sure of what other movements can be used to replace a broken one, other than to source the same movement from your TD.

It’s a ST2555 movement under the deco plate.
This movement is not to bad.
But you have to replace the whole movement if something breaks. This sounds scary but a new ST2555 just costs something around $40.

Unfortunate that is.

Had my eye on a „themed Pam collection“ - 337/8, 512 and 676 (because of the different crown guards and lugs)

They all have the same movement.

I can’t send the watch back (personal reasons).

Even if I would have access to a watch smith, that would probably be rather pricey (if it’s at all possible as you mentioned) not an easy repair like a 2836.

Should I wake up from the Panerai dream?

@chris3007 just posted a reply before yours. It's a Tianjin (Seagull) ST2555 movement.

So sorry Chris, did not see your reply (even in the alerts).

That’s what happens when you dream the Pam dream I guess lol - I‘m awakened from my slumber now :)

Thank you Chris and mysterio!

That’s really great news - which puts me right back into the dream. What is going on - must be Saturday :)
