Paypal trouble

Yesterday I pulled the trigger on an SMP GMT.

I sent a paypal payment at around 1:00 AM last night. This morning I got an e-mail from Paypal saying that they limited the acces of my account.

Part of the e-mail:
"As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in thePayPal system. During a recent screening, we noticed an issue regardingyour account. We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party.Because protecting the security of your account is our primary concern, wehave limited access to sensitive PayPal account features. We understandthat this may be an inconvenience but please understand that this temporarylimitation is for your protection"

I had to change the password and confirm my location with an acces code that you have to enter into an automated telephone call that you receive.

Obviously this security measure was triggered by my "unusual" payment to the far east.

Has anyone experienced this? Does it mean that the dealer is in trouble now?
Thanks

Are you POSITIVE that the email was actually from paypal? That language is used in a large numbere of "phishing" emails, and it's dangerous to react to one of them- ESPECIALLY to click on one of the links in the email, which take you to a site that LOOKS like a paypal login but it intercepts your information.

Did you go directly to the PayPail website or through the link in the e-mail you got?

If you went through the link - start checking your shit (accounts, etc.). Never go through links in e-mails - always go back to PayPal dot com directly and start there.

But yes, it may be associated with whomever you did business with too.

Good luck.

This has happened to me prior to my having anything to do with the replica world....Paypal/Ebay scammers are everywhere!

Just to make sure, after you received the email from Paypal, did you try to access your account directly on Paypal's website? About once a week I receive a bogus email from "Paypal" or "Ebay" grifters pretending to be the "good" guys notifying me that my account has been accessed by a third party, just like you have received, and then requesting personal information so they can actually screw me over.....WTF with these mofo's?!?!?!

Please tell me you're joking.

Go onto paypal NOW, via paypal.com, not by any email, and change your password. If you can't connect, you're humped.

You just answered a phishing email from thieves. PayPal never sends those types of emails. I would close that account and cancel your credit cards fast! You never ever give out personal info from an email link. The crooks make a page that looks like PayPal but i bet it was not. Wow you have to learn the hard way sometimes i guess

oh my god.. my friend you just got scam... read other member post and call paypal immidiately, log in to your paypal directly and change password and security questions... good luck.

Paypal will never used phone or email asking you to change password or giving any answer to anyone.. even automated phone call.. Only way to change it is from your paypal account directly.

I got alot of email like that and what i do is forward the email back to [email protected] and always- always its a scam try to steal your id and password.
They call it phising.. something like that..
Hopefully its not to late.

no phishing

No panic guys

it wasn't a phishing scam, it was the actual paypal

No links in e-mail or anything

It seems like they are just checking the transactions for anything unusual, like credit card companies do

I was just wandering if the dealer is in trouble now , because they checked the transaction. ( i didn't mention anything that could be related to replicas or this forum in the paypal notes)

????

Ddi you actually contact paypal after you gave up your account information to verify that you were not scammed. Seems really suspcious...those bastards can link you to sites that look just like the paypal site, or rig up phones whatever. I would be very cautious and make sure that your account is ok, by getting in touch with paypal through the paypal site, not through the email. Hope your account is as ok as you think it is.

Yes i did check with paypal and double checked!

They explained to me that their system checks on suspicious transactions. I think based on something like country involved

All is well with me

I hope the dealer is OK too

This is not a scam guys. I received the EXACT same email about 3 weeks ago when I attempted to purchase a watch from a well known dealer. They put a temporary hold on the funds and dicked me around for a week. They finally refunded my money after I wrote several emails to their resolution department. They f*cked my transaction up though and I didn't end up getting the product because I was so fed up with paypal and didn't want to bother with it. It was a real pain in the ass but it's not a scam. At least mine wasn't. They told me they were concerned my account was accessed by a third party but they told the recipient that they had reason to believe the transaction was fraudulent and double check who they were doing business with. I think it was a ploy to get information about the nature of the transaction.

that has to be the WORST. They HOLD Your funds because it's suspicious for two weeks.

i would hate to buy anything then because they'll just "hold" my funds, saying "it looked suspicious"

bunch of lamers!

It was a pretty frustrating week to say the least...one of the many ways paypal can suck.
