I haven't seen much on this watch around here so I thought I'd share some pictures of my PP 5127 rep and give it some love.

I picked it up simply to have that perfect classy watch to wear with a nice suit. So, for me, I may end up wearing this like 1-2 times a year.

For comparison, this is a pic of the gen 5127:

The biggest flaw right off the bat is the date window is wrong. For me, I just flat out love the style and it's not a big deal for me. (Who is really going be that familiar with a $20k watch that most people don't recognize?)

The leather band it also incorrect. As is the branding on the clasp, it's on the wrong side.

But, IMO, this is a fantastic looking watch... It is a 21j movement. Of the 21j's I have, this one is ridiculously smooth and quiet. It's doesn't have that cheap rotor sound to it like my other 21j's.

And now some pics:

I picked this up from Watcheden for under $100. I'm going to like the way I look, I guarantee!

Yes, the real 5127 has a display back as well. Just not with a cheap 21j running it. Lol!

I have some Patek 5127 replicas as well. There's this one with an Asian 2824-2 clone:

and one with an asian 21j movement:

The style of the strap you have on there is even better suited to the character of the watch than the gen strap you have in that picture (obviously quality is another matter). It gives it a very nice retro 60s/70s look.
I would have considered picking one up if it wasn't for the fact that watcheden don't do PP.

Perhaps it is just the photos, but when I see the real one, it looks very different. Every angle is sharp (Look at the top) and the movement looks fantastic.

Do these reps really look like a Patek when close or only when far away?

I don't think any Patek, Vacheron, or Breguet replica is really going to fool any watch expert who is allowed to hold and observe the watch from all angles. The closest replicas are probably the Patek Nautilus, Patek Aquanaut, and the Vacheron Overseas. On the wrist, they are visually very close, but if you take it off the wrist and hand it to someone who is familiar with the gen, they would probably be able to tell it is a replica.

By the way, this is the exhibition caseback on the 2824-2 clone version of the 5127. That big glowing Calatrava cross is a reflection off the shiny Patek logo on the catalog.
