Panerai VSF 1055 Rubber Strap Failure..

I know that rubber actually can fail like this, especially cheaper rubber or improperly molded ones, usually the lifecycle of rubber watch straps is 5-7 years of heavy wear.Oh no! You haven't been wearing it have you....?
I wear it once or twice a month, it's never been swimming, this is my first strap in my 10 year watch career that has snapped apart like this,
I've only owned this 1055 for 2-3 years
What's shocking is that it failed in 3-4 places, not just 1, you can see it snapped in 3 locations! That's crazy.
I guess I can't expect that much from rubber straps, they cheap out to make margins on stuff like this, the VSF rubber strap always felt flimsy
Kept it in a watch box and when I took it out today, it literally just fell apart and gave out, maybe the watch box was too humid, I need to leave more dessicant packs inside it.
Notice how it failed around the soft / molded parts that were flimsy, and also around the smallest hole location (which I wear the strap on).
Just crazy work.
Folks, remeber to check your rubber straps for tears and cracks otherwise you'll have a nasty surprise!

Two vsf straps (one blue and one black) happened the same to me both the first day after receiving the watch from my td that recognized the fails and sent me another two im waiting now
Absurd because if it happens for example when you are on Bike or something similar, is the end …

I will buy a non branded strap for this watch to use.
You are right, and I got super lucky that it failed in the box, if it failed on wrist while I was wearing it.. $350 watch into the trash can

Were you storing them in a hot/humid environment? I wonder why it never happened to me at this point. I have rubbers that have more than 10ys.
Note: it happened a couple of time with old Casios...

I live in a hot / humid area so yes.
But this is my first time seeing this happen.
Even my cheap 10 dollar rubber FKM from Aliexpress doesnt show any signs of trouble!
So partially VSF fault, partially environment.
Inspect VSF rubber for tears and cracks every time you wear!!!

While blaming rep rubber - a close friend of mine suffered from the same fate with two of his gen rubber straps - bought directly from Panerai - same construction as yours.
Service was smooth - free replacement and a big apology even if it won‘t fix a dropped watch though haha
European climate - not humid, not overly hot, watches worn maybe once a week.

I think the weird shaped nature and the thinness of the strap at certain points can cause defects... that's good to know...
For 350 rep..... fine.... 5000 gen... lol

The similarity of crumbling almost inside the box with no stress to the part make the VSF even closer to gen spec haha
