NOW SOME WARNINGS!

The Panerai 177 (Titanium case) is not the same 177 that was being produced by the current maker of the best 111H. It is NOWHERE NEAR THE SAME QUALITY! It is made by a different maker of panerai who traditionally makes the cheap 21J panerai reps who specialize in sharp edges, horrible chrowns and overall CHEAP replicas. This watch is no different.

ANY PVD CASE MARINA STYLE PANERAI see description above for the 177.
I am told that it is just a little better than the 177, it is still not like what we had before. Both are a major downgrade from the previous maker!

Panerai 005 is available again, however, like the 177 and PVD maker, this is a substandard maker. It is not very good quality and anyone used to the 111 qualtiy will not be happy with this product.

Another sad fact is that the prices are virtually the same for such a substandard replica. It's pretty depressing!

I have not decided if I will carry these panerai, I may get them in my hands and make a decision then. I trust every word from my supplier, he knows what I am used to and he said that I will not be happy at all.

I know what you mean greg.. I had the 111 and the 177 and I was like thinking where is there such a quality difference when the price is almost the same!!!

I had the settle for a dsn :) to satisfy my need for quality.. for the titanium

This being the case, it would be best to rely on DSN even though his prices are a bit more, he still provides one of the best out of the box Pams. Also, Greg, last night.....

Wow, great of you to provide this info D4M :) Especially considering I've been on a ti binge since I got into this hobby :D

Are you familiar with the JacksonTse manual ti cases?

Actually before I bombard you with ti questions, could you suggest some threads to read about differences in the different titanium cases put out by the factories and DSN? I'll do some searching later, just heading out now, but would like to know what you think would be the informative.

I actually have managed to bypass DSN, when it comes to manual ti PAMs, so I don't have an example of his on hand. But I have collected several other examples, including DSN Auto cases, older factory (some with the two OP/BB numbers on the lugs, some without the dimple between the lugs, and various other styles), and a couple of JacksonTse's latest (his have a higher crown tube). But I'd really like to know what other (besides the obvious) differences there are among them all, and when compared to DSN's manuals.

Thanks

Drulee,
I wish I could answer your questions but I do not have any specific knowledge between the cases other than holding them in my hands and seeing an obvious difference.
My suppliers have all noted a less superior quality so I wanted to pass this info along to everyone.

I guess I've been lucky so far, as I'm quite happy with all my ti purchases :)

I have three JacksonTse manual cases that I've used for some builds, the cases are extremely light, look great, and come at a great price.

The only problems, with the JTse cases, arise when you try to install a thick dial (talkin' DSN here), as the crown tube and the stem hole on the movement will not line up properly, plus you not be able to insert the movement plates into the slot on the inner case.

However, if you are installing a sandwich dial, and what to use a DSN one, I found that you can just take apart one of his (JTse) cheap homage sandwich dials, use the bottom plate from that, and the top plate from the DSN, and it will fit.

The next problem is the length of the crown tube on the JTse case, but it can easily be filed down, and with a spring loaded crown this "problem" becomes a benefit, as you can now increase its water proofing ability :)

I've also acquired about four older manual wind titanium cases. The ones with just the OP and BB numbers on two of the lug corners (DSN has three corners numbered), but haven't tried installing anything in them yet. They seem to be very nice cases though.

Then I've amassed about seven DSN titanium autos, and have been having trouble fitting my DSN 091 and A7750 into one of his ti auto cases ... but I'll save that for another thread :)

Oh, and I also managed to get two older cart.l 089's, and upgraded their bezels with the new slim DSN ones (they fit perfectly). But they're sitting on the sidelines right now, waiting for some movement rings ....

Almost forgot, I've got a Helenarou ti case coming in the mail, so I guess I should probably put together some pics and start a thread, after I've completed the assembly of a few, comparing them :D

Nothing has changed from what I posted about, and no new Ti models have been released, except by DSN (his usual Ti case).

Wouldn't it be nice if those who find a great rep would reveal who they purchased it from? Why keep it a secret? ALL the threads are like this. Is there some reason folks don't say where they got their watch? Some post loads of photos of a watch and then never say where they got it. Just a little frustrating - Venting JackTheBear

Hi guys,
I'm new to the rep scene and on hunt for a Pan (preferably Ti housing).
Would this one be a good buy do you think?
http://www.timeshops.net/product.php?id_product=5409

Why not get one with a swan neck regulator - I think they are closer to authentic http://www.timeshops.net/product.php?id_product=1188
Have had good luck with idolreplicas and they have the Pan with swan neck regulator

http://www.idolreplicas.net/product--search--2--0--2--swan neck--list--asc--1.html

I like this one since it has the swan neck movement AND a Sapphire crystal rather than the mineral glass. I am not an "expert" like the rest of the posters. Perhaps they will tell us where to get a nice Pam rep.

If you want a good ti stick with the latest h-factory 117L from a member sale or jump on the 117M that is on pre-order. Everything about this watch is excellent for the price.

I read this thread and then noted the dates in the earlier posting... is it safe to say that the situation has changed and the current batch of 177s, 026s, etc are of a consistent and decent (read as good) quality?
