Panerai 6152

I’ve been thinking about vintage panerai recently, mainly due to reading this article from Perezcope:

https://perezcope.com/2019/02/20/rear-admiral-amedeo-vescos-amazing-vintage-panerai-6152/

9fc123598127b956ec6c5f142ff9c750.jpg

and looking through Athaya ‘s website, particularly this case:

http://parts.athayavintage.com/product/vintage-6154-bronze-case-kit/

My end goal would be to try and create a bronze 6152.

However; I don’t usually like wearing watches much bigger than 42mm so I don’t want to dive straight in and spend £300 on a case for a project I won’t complete.

My idea was to buy a stock steel watch to see if I like wearing it and have parts to practice modding, eventually transferring them to the new case when I’m happy.

I thought I had found the perfect donor:

http://www.puretime1.co/panerai/vin...n-dark-brown-leather-strap-a6497-sku7155.html

But this seems to be a fake puretime website so I’m a bit dubious.

The other option was this:

https://www.pfclones.com/watches/pa...0-pn662r01-pam-662-r-1940-radiomir-p3000.html

However although the case is slightly better (around the crown) it doesn’t have the Rolex stamped caseback and the dial is a more modern version.

Does anyone know of any better source for a 6152?

I’ve put this project on the back burner for a bit - real life is getting in the way of things!

I came across this movement recently and was thinking it may be usable for this case.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ENLOONG-...2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0

It’s cheaper on Ali express ~$100 for one, but the eBay listing above shows the tech specs.

Does anyone know anything about this movement or have any experience with it?

Thanks

You're off to a long journey trying to make a 42 mm rep into a 6154 (or 6152 for what matters).
you wont find any compatible part, no hands, no crystal, no dial, no crown, no stem, no movement adapter and so on, the Rolex engravings inside the CB will be the last of your problems imho. Everything will have to be custom made or modified by hand to fit (where physically possible).
Not saying its impossible, only it will require a lot of trial and error and patience.
you might consider going for a cheap 44mm homage you can find on Ebay or aliexpress and take it from there, aging the existing dial and eventually trying your hand at case shaping. I'd scrape the idea of adding custom parts in this case as well though unless you're able to machine your own.

kilowattore you’ve misunderstood me, there’s no way I’m going to try and make this in 42mm diameter. I have nothing like the skill to do that, let alone the inclination!

I meant I don’t usually wear watches bigger than 42mm and am not sure if a 47mm watch may be too big. Now that shops are open I may go to a panerai boutique and see if I can try one on.

Does anyone have an opinion on the micro rotor movement?

This is not the way to go. Please contact a global mod and see if you can have your old account restored, otherwise refrain from advertising sales that cannot take place until you are eligible.

Did you just quote your own picture?! As kilowattore stated, duplicate accounts are not the way to proceed-you need to raise a help desk ticket or contact Raddave C Master . At present your behaviour is starting to look like you’re trying to drum up interest in a sale, which is-as you’ve stated-not what you want at present. (And not possible due to low post count).

Well - after that threadjacking has finished.

I’m planning to push ahead with this project and have ordered the parts from Athaya . Unfortunately he didn’t have an solid casebacks in stock so I’m getting a display one.

I was planning to go with the 6497, but this will now be in display. I had seen that davidsen did a Rolex 618 modded 6497 and thought that would be a good replacement.

Unfortunately it seems he’s retired. I’ve emailed him and no reply

Does anyone know of any alternative sources?

No alternative for modified 6497 movements, that was his own project... You might use a molnija with Rolex engraved bridges as an alternative, not as nice but looks the part some way:

Hey muggs ,
You could also try to use a Molnija 3603. it's a copy of the Cortebert one which was used as a base for the Rolex 618.
However it would be really good to get a movement with a shock protection.

Good luck.

Good news! David Sen eventually got back to me and still has a few of the modded 618s left.

Now I just have to wait for shipping…….
