Lia on timeZone. she's got a ton of pics with her lovely 40mm pam048 (she loves hers and i love mine!). Her wrist is 5 inches. my wrist is ~ 5.75inches. She says she a 42 is nice on her and can pull off a 44... so now that's got me thinking i can do 44 too

I bought a 40mm for one of my old lady's really hot friends. While I don't have a pic of it on her, believe me it looks really good and she loves it....though maybe I'm just distracted by how she looks.....we do call her the toothpick with oranges!

yeah, look at Lia's profile and hunt down her posts. She has a ton of pictures. One thing you'll notice for sure is she's got a bunch of straps :shock:

aside from teh strap that came with the watch, i know she has a Red, Brown, and Pink strap! i say for your girl:

i say start out with a couple and then let her pick new straps

How good of a rep is the Marina 40mm compared to the gen? Is it pretty accurate? I am not too familiar with the Pan reps -- is the 40mm considered to be on the top Pan rep list for accuracy?

any pannie rep with a date suffers from a thicker font for the datewheel because Officine Panerai uses their own fonts. most of the watch movements come with a standard date wheel and i haven't seen any with the right date font. I tried my best with Eddie lee but it also didnt have the right date font... justlooked that way from the photos.

Since the 44's are more popular, there's not much attention to the 40's... but they are damn close enough, and pannie's get so little recognition that not many out there will even know it's a rep, let alone what a panerai is. Here in NorCalifornia, there's only... 2? 3? AD's for all of upper california.

the marina 40 is a good watch and i luv it. I haven't seen anyone else wearing one except on TV. I've walked into the AD only once and they had like 3 or 4 Panerais for sale.

It depends what you spend on the rep, but basically we're buying the same straps as the people that pay $3000+ for a watch.

That strap is available from Elliot Lazarus (TC Straps) here. It's $149 but he'll do you RWI discount on that.

king is good, but his response time is slow because of timezone and language barrier. The only difference between the whtie dial vs black dial is the Dial. as i mentioned before, the datefont is the giveaway, that's all, otherwise it's highly accurate. Are you planning on going to those Panerai get togethers? if not, then no worries.

I feel that the 40 mm pams that king, josh, andrew and Eddie lee offer are all ( or in the least feel ) the same :? maybe josh has a slight AR coating, but that's it.

as for the watch straps: you're paying for a genuine watch strap, hence the expensive price. Good leather, good material. 140 plus the RWI discount and it becomes a nice price for a good leather strap.

I had the unfortunate misgivings of trying on a reallll panerai, and their alligator strap spoiled me. the POS strap that comes with the pannie is not worth mentioning so i bought a gen strap that all the panerai afficianodos go for.

What is your significant's others preference? white dial or black dial? i see women wearing both white and black and they both look great. Your choice of a blue strap? Great choice. maybe buy that pink hi-quality afterwards

since youve been asking a lot about accuracy, one thing to note is the lume. if you get white dial, the lume markers are smaller, so less of a giveaway. the lume on both is only ok - would need to relume them and that's an extra service X-mas is coming! good luck with it all she'll love it!

make sure you tell her after she gets her watch "You look like heidi klum!"

ps: the asian auto 7750 is loud. when i hug my g/f, all she hears is the spinning rotor in my watch
