PAM984 / 985

I have a 985 I wear in my regular rotation
I like the size and weight (bronzo is just a bit heavy)
Quality is great
Just enough blue on the dial to make it different than a lot of my other watches but not so much color that it looks too loud.
I thought I would like the logo on the glass but I actually wish they had put it on the dial like other Pam. Having it on the crystal makes it look a bit like a sterile homage until the light catches it.

I agree with the others that overall it looks better in the flesh than in pics on the web.
I doubt I’ll ever sell mine.
I really like the strap it came with, but prefer it on my 1389. Some people might think I’m crazy for swapping the straps but I like to live dangerously.

Now that the pet strap is out there, I see it on a lot of different models. I have the blue pet strap off the 985 and finally have a blue dial reference and wished I could put them together because they look good but they're different sizes.

What is the pet strap? Is that the nylon strap that comes with these?

Yes. It's this strap pictured that comes on the 984 and 985.

Panerai is making a big movement to come out with new materials. They have voweed to come up with at least 1 new (environmentally friendly?) material a year for the next 20 years. And some years they're introducing 5 to 7.

Fibratech, gold tech, Carbotech, BMG Tech, and they have this strap - which is made out of 3 pet water bottles. They also have another plastic/nylon watch strap. It's rubber like with this criss cross pattern. Just to name a few.

Hazing yes I noticed. I’m wondering how it compares to vsf rep strap. I keep my 984 on that rep strap. I love the look. For some reason I’m not crazy about 984 on leather or rubber.

I hear ya. I had this canvas that I liked but any time I put it on a watch I just didn't like it.

I got it a while ago and put it on a 799 but didn't like it. And tried it on a few others. And then I put it on the 985 and I thought it looked good and felt good.

Now I love this set up. I'm glad I finally put this canvas to good use.

But I know what you mean. A strap with some texture certainly adds a little more to this watch.

Only tried the 985 on rubber, think I need to give it a go on canvas too!!

When you start wearing a sweater in the summer because it matches your watch you know you’re 8n trouble. Looks good though. We’ve all been there.

can anyone confirm if the screen printing of the panerai logo is under the crystal or on top of the crystal ?

It's underneath. Or I'm guessing more likely it's betwwn crystals but that's just a guess.
