I don't think the handset will fit the 6497 as the CP seems wider on the 6497 but maybe I can broach the hands to fit? or can you get a smaller cp on a 6497?

The P.9000 is automatic, the 6497 is a manual wind. Maybe you got your reference numbers wrong? If you're referring to the P.3000 (which is used on the PAM617), there is a tear down of the P.3000 somewhere but I am not sure if there are any common parts with the 6497.

So the new movement arrived today, this is what I have found.....

1. the movement does fit into the case.
2. The canon pinion and hour wheel is thinner in the rep movement so the hands will need to be broached to fit. (Hour wheel tube in rep 1.3mm, 6497 is 1.8mm)
3. The dial feet do not fit into the new movement so these will need removing and dial affixed with tape/glue dot.

I did look to see if the cannon pinion/hour wheel would fit the 6497 but it won't.

now to buy some broaching files

Beautiful work mate.
I have almost ordered a new movement many times but never had the guts.
can I ask where you sourced it from?

In the old days getatwatch had decent hands for 6497/98 if you fail.

I don't know how they fare today though.
