Pam243m h maker/factory......better than out of stock Noob????

All, I'm hoping for some advice from the Panerai experts out there, I've been a member of this and sister forums for a couple of months and after countless hours or reading I have reached the well informed decision of a Pam243 as my first purchase, in classic 'sods law' style, the Noob v3 appears to be out of stock everywhere (unless anyone has any info to the contrary), after contacting most of the TDs, Joshua (perfect clones), has confirmed he has a Pam243m h factory available and has claimed it is superior to the Noob - which contradicts everything I have read, it says it was added to his catalogue in January this year suggesting a newer version to that referred to in ALE's Pam guide.......

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience on this, is Joshua correct or should I hold out on the chance that further Noob versions will be commissioned

This is updated version of 243 by H-factory:
- 60 clicks bezel
- better knobs on bezel (chamfered edges)
- borderless loupe over date
- very good CG

I've asked the dealers the very same question, guess no one is sure whether NF 243 will be in production again. My dealer also suggested HF 243. I understand in the past there was a thread comparing both, if my memory serves me right, conclusion was both are good, N had better casing, H had better dial. N slightly better.

Now Polonus mentioned the HF updates above, the H should be pretty good, not sure which is superior, not sure if N ever produces it again, it would be as good or better than before. I will probably order HF as well.

Thanks Polonus, great feedback, in your experience would these changes put both models on par, or would it be worth a gamble to hold out for another run of Noobs

Also 'borderless loupe'?, is that an improvement to the date magnifier/cyclops? - as thats one area i have read that the Noob version could be better.

The original H-Factory and Noob factory PAM243 releases were already super rep level, but the Noob won by a slight margin, which it further improved upon in the V2. Apparently H-factory updated whatever flaws it had in the V1 and released this new version, albeit with no fanfare. As Noob isn't likely to reissue V2 nor release a V3, this H-Fac V2 would be a most recommended purchase, even more so with the fixes PolonusTM mentioned. The borderless loupe is the opposite of the phenomenon called the frozen halo on the cyclops. This is caused by not polishing the inner sides of the cutout underneath the lens, the surface looks whitish and from the outside looks like there is a halo around the cyclops. From the photos on the PC website, it looks like there is no halo. One of those small things that take the rep one step closer to gen. Post pics when your watch arrives.

Hi Samuele, and welcome.....I have read huge amounts on the merits of the Noob (v2 or v3) and until very recently had never even considered the alternative, however with the Noob production looking like it may have ceased (or certainly stalled) my TD suggested the newer F factory as a credible (and supposedly superior) alternative.

Ever the sceptic I needed to reach my own better informed decision, so I asked the fellow forum members for advice, see Polonus's (Pam rep authority) very recent short review where he concludes that the new F Factory has now likely got the edge of the Noob

I had a noob v3, and this new H'fac v3. I prefer the Hfac any day. Fit and finish to me is outstanding.

I vote for the noob v3 version! I think the bezel numbers and dots are better

but not sure if it's still available

Old H maker and Noob were really close. They both were Super reps.
H maker has made improvements in this new version, Noob V3 was a re-edition and not an improvement in relation to V2

With the last improvements commented by Polonus most likely New H maker is at least at the same level if not better than Noob

It is a shame that H maker has not seemingly improved the width of polished edge of the bezel, it seems narrower than gen. It was the same with Noob



As a side comment I would not trust the opinion of a dealer regarding the best versions. Mainly if the dealer is not working all versions, like is the case from Joshua in relation with Noob.
