There are more noticeable differences than the bezel, things that I can notice at a first glance without having them side by side: lever, engraving. pearl. numerals. For the bezel I can also tell which is which without having them side by side, but it takes me a little more staring and moving around to hit the right angle and make sure it's not a reflection. With all the reflection happening on those polished teeth most of the times they look similar to me. From what I've seen in the pics before seeing them in real life I was also expecting to be more of a difference.

As for the lume being a defect on this one unit, I had 3 other OC pics before choosing this one and 2 looked even worse and one the same

superbly written and documented. thank you for this. I just received my Noob V2 243M last night and it's spectacular. Took it for a run this afternoon in the woods and it served its purpose well. Definitely a more rugged sport watch and I'm gonna use it like one :D

I'm a newbie here. I am blown away with the fastidious detail and knowledge you guys exhibit.

I am considering the PAM 243 offered by puretime.co.
There is an asian movement option and a "genuine" swiss movement one. Can any of you who knows his way around this issue more thoroughly give me advice about whether it is worth spending the additional $500 to go swiss?

Asian: http://www.puretime.co/product/pam2...ion-on-rubber-strap-v2-a7750-free-strap-tool/

Swiss: http://www.puretime.co/product/pam2...n-on-rubber-strap-v2-eta7750-free-strap-tool/

I livechatted with Puretime's agent, who asserts this:
"The Swiss movements are always more reliable than the asian movements. These are genuine swiss movements while asian movements are copies of the swiss movements. Being original, swiss movements are sturdier and lasts generally longer than asian, of course if you handle them with care."

How much sturdier? How much longer? etc.

I'm the type of guy who wears one watch all the time and want it to be sturdy and reiable.

I have an old Seiko diving watch (the nicest thing I've bought so far), which I picked up for $250 a few years ago. It is always frustrating me, because it loses so much time.

Any words of advice will be much appreciated....

Cormpus: No it is not worth it IMO.
The rep 7750 is a fine movement.
If in a year or two you love the watch so much you can probably upgrade to a Swiss 7750 for this same $500 difference at that time.
You can usually find a Swiss 7750 in the $400 range and pay a watchsmith less than $100 to swap it.

There will be no visible differences at all between the two, especially on a closed caseback watch such as this.

Secondly: resale value of the Asian movement of this watch will be high (percentage of what you paid wise)
resales value of the Swiss movement version of this watch will be low (percentage of what you paid wise)
I know you think you will love it, but until you have tried it on and worn it for a week don't assume anything and keep your options open.

Sales agents will always push you to buy the more expensive option and of course it is better than the cheaper one. ;) A few years ago, Swiss movements were much better than their Asian counterparts. But things have improved on the Asian movements to the point that it's really not worth it to buy Swiss. For less than the price of a Swiss movement upgrade, you can buy the latest and better rep a few years down the road if the Asian movement conks out on you.

$500 extra, hell no! These 7750 clone movements are damn close, the only problem you may have is that a lot of them are either over oiled, dirty or dry so some may need to be serviced. But if you get a well assembled one it performs like a champ. With those $500 you can buy 2 extra spare watches and just toss or sell for parts one when it breaks.

The one glaring issue on the h dial is the space in the paner ai. to me that is much more noticeable than any other dial flaw to me, I'd hand it to noob myself.

Thank for sharing the review. Learned a lot from this thread.
It seems that H series always do better on fonts and numerals while N series win a little bit on size. However, I am quite agree with that H maker has a better QC.
By the way, you have a nice cellphone camera as it never possible to take these high quality pics by my smartphone. Maybe I should got a new one. And your English is much better than mine. You must be very gifted in language.

Hint....THEY DONT WANT TOO!!!!!Keeps us OCD Repgeeks coming back and spending the almighty $$$$$$$$

Still boggles the mind though how they can't replicate the watch completely with such capability.

Great comparative thread, smokie. :)
