i just got rid of my Pam’s, it’s been a year I think I’m ready for a 1313

I think the PAM1393 or PAM906 could be my first foray into Panerai. But finding QC examples and reviews of any of the 42mm stuff is super hard to come by.

The PAM arrived today...

I was at home, but our intercom decided to fail today, out of all days. FFS.

So now I have to wait until tomorrow noon to collect it at the postal branch.

At least it gave you an extra day for strap shopping - the rep crocs are no bueno.

Aaaaaand... Here it is.

First impressions: The build quality is amazing, as expected for VSF. The sunburst dial is spectacular. The rotor noise is totally within rep spec and not louder than any of my VSF Omegas. Hand winding is smooth, accuracy I obviously can't comment on after having it had on the wrist for less than an hour. I'm glad that I went with a 42mm PAM, as I doubt that my crippled girlie-like meat haulm of a wrist would be able to convincingly handle a 44, let alone a 47.

PS: I forgot to add that the roughly 1.5 millimeters additional thickness vs gen are absolutely acceptable and not really noticeable (at least when compared to gen photos). I couldn't get myself to go with a PAM rep that is 8mm thicker than its gen counterpart.

Baby PAMs are pretty much my favorite watch on women..

Small update: Since this PAM1393 came from Sead's EU stock, I just assumed that they wouldn't put a total potato on stock in regard to its performance, so I just didn't bother to ask for a timegrapher shot and took the plunge with full trust in Supermirrors.

So I paid some extra attention to how it would run in the first ~24 hrs and I have to say: I'm pleasantly surprised... It only lost 3 seconds since yesterday which I think is pretty good for an unserviced OOTB rep.

You're right. It's super stiff. Unnecessarily stiff.

It doesn't look all that bad, actually, but it's not really comfortable...

I 'massaged' it hard yesterday and have painful red blisters on my right hand today. Still stiff as hell. I will try rubbing Vaseline on it as a last resort.

PS: You know what, just forget above monologue. I just re-read it and almost died.

In all seriousness though, are the rep straps even made of real leather? It does smell genuine, but who knows if they don't fake that as well... I guess Vaseline or coconut oil will not really fly well on leather imitation.

Also, are rubber straps a no-no on the dressier PAMs? I'm thinking Aliexpress dark blue rubber... Like this one:

I'd actually prefer that over leather anyway.
