Lol was that originally my Pam 111v3? I guess my mods were really convincing. ;)

I don't know about air travel, but when I cross the us border by car I always have an old Amazon return label on a package that I am shipping for a private sale, then I Peel it off after I am past customs

that's nothing

I'll better that story took my heavily modded AP diver to a local pawn shop , i wouldn't say a good friend but someone that i've sold watches and guns over the last 8 years . So here we go went there to see if he'd be interested in buying some high end shoes and bags (all real ) but as soon as i put my hand on his table what's that i replied my AP diver what do you want for it , and i say i'm here to sell some shoes and bags why do you alway's want what's on my wrist. I let him try it on , he took his jewelers loop inspected the case, dial and offered me $ 10,700 for it. Mind you this guy is into very high end watches .:hehehe: What an idiot.

yup, i guess i should send you the bill then....

I just got the whole story. She got stopped for verification because she had tooooo much baggage and they found that suspicious. Anyways, they went through all her stuff and when they got their hands on the watch they asked her what the value was. She had no idea so she said "probably $50-60, i have no idea. Its my husbands and he doesnt really like watches so i cant imagine him spending much on a watch"...

the agent stepped aside and checked the value of the gen online.. he came back and said its value is $7500. And that she has to pay 3% import duties...She says "fine no problem, let me just pay cause im gonna miss my flight"..

he checks with his supervisor and comes back to tell her that he was mistaken and the import fees on a "new watch" is 45%

She politely told him to take the watch and place it under the front wheels of the next 747 that was about to take off...

after another 10 minutes of back and forth, he settled for 5% plus $25 administration fee..(what a bunch of scammers)

she was afraid of being blacklisted with customs for whatever reason so she just paid it and got on the flight.

Doesn't make sense

How do they know you are importing it for sale?

Why can't you just say it is packaged to protect it, because it is an expensive watch?

There is no way they can prove it isn't your watch to wear?

Nah. I called customs and gave them a heads up that Mrs Grimm was heading into 'murrica :hehehe:

AHHHH, so thats why she told me... "oh, by the way, when i asked why i got stopped, the agent replied, MAAM, we got notified by MR 57th street sour puss that you'd be headin our way"

:cheer::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::cheer:

USA
I am pretty confused.
I've been to Canada a few times and other than a bunch of questions at the border, I've never had any issues, but then again I dont know any of the border laws.

Let me ask this, because it was wrapped up in bubble wrap they just assumed it was being transported to the USA for resale? How can they just assume something like that? So anytime you bring items into the USA from Canada you have to pay a fee? Why are they so worried about a watch, how about putting the effort into stopping illegal immigrants and contraband from crossing the border instead of worrying about a freaking watch!
