PAM111 Noob v4 rep

My first rep has just arrived. I did my due diligence on this and RG forum and everything is pretty much as I expected, except one thing - the crystal.

I never expected such a glaring difference between a gen (and not this particular gen, I mean any gen with a sapphire crystal) when it comes to AR. Giving a gen watch a wipe makes the crystal disappear, whereas with the rep it just makes my reflection more prominent

Only mentioning this since I read every thread on PAM111 I could find and don’t remember seeing anything about this, yet it was first thing I noticed when I had the watch in my hands.

Now we have to have pictures to qualify that statement. Side by side would be great (well assuming they are all still with you) but generally same lighting conditions would be fine. .

I only have my h factory 000 which is probably the best luminor rep I have ever had. I will get a pic up today. I no longer have my noob 111 or xf 005.

Who knows, maybe the warehouse fitted a scrap crystal to your watch.

Don’t know what gens you’re talking about but I personally am very happy with the 111 crystal.

H factory have always blew the noob crystals out of the water. Look back at all the posts from the years. Now the noob case has always been the more accurate case. Noob is still a great watch. I will try and see if I have an old pic of my v3 111 and you will be able to see the difference. Here is my v2 h factory 000 with fat crown.

Looks fine to me. It is a typical noob watch. You can tell by the pics that the h factory is much better. In real life it is quiet noticeable.

Agreed. I was under the impression that the Noob was the best rep by far. I'd have gone for the H if I knew that the difference is that big, even if the other aspects were not as accurate. After all, the crystal is what we look at the most.

Its funny how you mention about the crystal. I have always thought the same way. I think the crystal and dial are very important and the h factory was usually pretty good at this, especially with the sausage dials which I have always liked. The reps are never perfect so you have to pick your poison on what is really important in the watch that makes you happy.

Gone for the H? You couldn't even if you wanted to. At least when brand new reps are concerned.

Yeah I just saw that when looking at PureTime. Not a biggie, like I said in my first post I'm just surprised that this is not discussed along with other "tells" as this is pretty much an instant one.

It may be instant to you but AR clarity will not be listed as a "tell".

Because AR clarity is something that can change per batch (not version). These watches aren't made in one factory. You yourself made no mention of this "instant tell" when commenting on another PAM111, even calling it "perfection". So no, it's not an instant tell.

I did, but that dude is clearly a very good photog, as the reflection is only noticeable in the very last shot in his thread. I compared to every single piece in my watch box last night, and I couldn't see my reflection in any of them, even ones with domed crystals.

I've been reading up on this some more, both here and on the gen forums - to be clear I'm not talking about the colour or clarity of the AR (which seems to change from version to version and factory to factory), but rather about the effectiveness of it.

Clarity - the quality of being clear. And what is the measure of the effectiveness of AR than how clear it looks, thereby showing you the appearance of the dial? Now how effective that AR is, it is purely subjective. From your days of experience, you can say the AR is an instant tell..I don't presume to qualify your statement about your other watches, we've never seen them.
