pam005K movement replacement

As a lot off you I have ordered a 005K. If this one is more gen-like than my current 111J I want to replace the asian movement for a swiss, maybe even high beat.

But is there a trusted source where I can buy these movements? And what are the costs of these movements.

High beat Genuine Swiss Unitas 6497-2 are very hard to find and are very pricey at $300-$400. Your best bet is the high beat Asian Seagull 6497-2 from Getat at $35, if you have it serviced/regulated will be as good.

Yes it's a better movement, closer to GEN and once serviced will last for life. A low beat Genuine Swiss Unitas 6497-1 is great too at $150-$190 USD.

ETA only sells the 6497-2 to manufacturers, it's not possile to get a complete one even for repair purposes, only parts.

Once in a while one shows up on the bay or on a watch forum, but as gianton said, the price tag is quite high for a movement that have very few interest unless you plan on keeping the watch for more than 30 years.

My PAM177Ls came with an A6497 18000bph, I didn't even notice it in the QC video until someone posted about it.

In my old 005 i have the Getat hi-beat & i compared the second hand smoothness with the one on my new 005k... Honestly not so different to my eyes.

Yeah, with the small subdial second hand it's much harder to notice the beats even with a low beat movement... at least to me. Very nice watch, regardless.

Thanks for the info, I didn't knew there was an asian 6497-1 before, I thought they jumped straight to the high beat to avoid the regulating issues and make their life easier.

with all this new info, the asian in the 005 isnt worse than the Getat? But the swiss 6497-1 from eg ofrei still is better right?
