Ok will try a different tack…..does anyone know of any dealers that would be able to source a VSF P 900 movement?

I would say reach out to a dealer and ask them they can tell you straight up..

Not sure which thread to bump, but in general, is this VSF P.9000/P.900 clone holding up well for everyone?

The clone 6497 I got in an HWF was trash, so I replaced it with a Seagull ST36. Can't do that with a clone though, so I am curious how it's going.

There is no VSF p900 movement.
VSF has a p9000 clone that is labeled as p9000, p9001, p9010, p900.

Hey @locvs
i have a question regarding the loud rotor: wouldn't it be possible to remove the rotor completely and simply use the watch with manual winding?
Or is it smarter to grease/oil the bearing?

You can do both. But oiling silences the rotor to bearable levels.

What happened?

btw P9K is considered a good and stable movement in the replica world.
Thanks for the reply. The hairspring came off the stud. And I don't mean the stud fell out of the arm, I mean the epoxy failed and it came right off lol

Before that, the setting lever screw broke in half. And I don't mean I stripped it while tightening it; it fell in half on its own and it came out when I was about to remove the stem.

These aren't real ST36's so I guess this is to be expected. Cheaper than cheap! I replaced it with (what I assume is) a real Seagull ST36.

(also there was no dial washer but that's not as big of a deal)

Good to hear on the P9000. Might be something interesting to learn on later...

Damn, that's bad... Never heard such stuff happened to a A6497.

I remembered there was another major issue with it so I took the balance complete from another 6497 and wound it up... It gets good time for a while and then after a few minutes this happens:

Leave it like that and it eventually stops.

My theory is that when they cut the 4th wheel to make it a no seconds, some filings made their way into the movement. Either that or they cut the pinion too short.

I am just setting up a workshop now and I'll be able to take a look at it really soon.

Something similar had happened to me, and it was bad lubrication of the swing wheel.

In China they engineer and produce complicated Clone movement, and then they screw all it up for a drop of lube ....:(
in reality the ST36xx movements that I have purchased to date (about ten) were all lubricated, and in this case the problem appeared on an ETA 6497-1 which had been sitting in a drawer for a long time.
However, I have often read about the fact that Chinese movements are not lubricated, and it probably really happened, but I can't confirm it for now :)

Oh yeah I was able to figure out the problem. When the seconds hand post was cut off the wheel, it cut to deep or got sheared off. Amazingly it still worked, but not very well as the timegrapher showed

On the left is my replacement seconds wheel after cutting (but before cleaning)
