Simple - buy both a ceramic and a carbotech.

Keep one sell one; or keep both.

It's hard to say how different people treat their watches too. Some harsh. Some not. Some won't wear in certain situations. Some will.

I've got both. As stated by @locvs - two totally different materials. I like them both. I wear both of them.

Buy both 😉

OK, hate to burst your bubble but as a very long time Panerai rep and gen collector, but the reps of newer models all have instant tells if you know what to look for. Old school Pams can be frankened to be pretty darn close to a gen - so much so that the gens aren't worth buying (the so called Not Worth Buying In Gen or NWBIG for short). The newer gen models are more sophisticated in some ways and factories rarely go to the trouble of replicating all the details. VSF typically makes great quality reps but I have yet to come across a single VSF Pam with the correct caseback, exact case shape or perfect dial architecture. Obviously doesn't matter for overall appearances and a feeling of quality on the wrist. VSF movements are another matter - visually very good, performance wise it is a lottery. Summary, enjoy the rep for what it is - a much cheaper approximation that will entertain you for some time. Just how long depends on the individual.

Better for what? Ressistant to what?
Both materials have their strenghts and weaknesses.

Ceramic is almost impossible to scratch, but heavier and can chip.
Carbotech is light, more prone to scratches and dents.

Buy the model you want. Or the material you want. There isn't a model available in both materials, so just pick one.
Thx this is exactly what I wanted to know.
My final choice is between 616 and 1661, both Carbotech, but I’m still thinking because of scratches low resistance…
Information that could be useful to all: typo errors on VSF 1232 (Carboteoh) and on 1441 (Cabeback) are still there, I asked Ryan from InTime to check.

The 1661 is really nwbig. The ”panerai” font is a little bit fatter on the rep but one crazy thing is that some genuine 1661s have the same fat panerai text as the rep ones so I guess it’s ok. Scary 1:1. Heres a picture of a gen one with fat font https://clickpix.org/image/IMG-1992.HVGdep

Hey there, good morning, everyone! I'm a newbie here, and I was hoping to get your opinions on something. Do you mind sharing your thoughts on the lume? Is it Superluminova? I work night shifts regularly and having a watch with good lume would be helpful. Thanks in advance for your help!

It is superluminova. They have great lume. If you really want a watch that stands out and have great lume check the pam1118 out!

Much appreciate it, thanks a lot.
I would buy a gen watch with Swiss superluminova if it’s for work. The rep lume works and looks nice, but it doesn’t last or charge as easily as any of my gens.

Question for those who have the VSF 1661. Does it not have a day selector on it? I just bought one m2m, and it looks like the three positions are hour, minute and winding? I havent purchased a PAM in a while, didnt know if this was by design or if I have something with a bad movement in it .

Nevermind I found something on a TD Website explaining that its only adjustable with the hour hand second position (per genuine) means this bad boy is going to be a watch winder, changing 15+ days via 24 position cycles would suck

Everything from VSF has the p9000 clone. It can be labeled as p9001, p9010, p900 - doenst matter. Its always the p9000 clone.
First position is winding
Second position is flying hour hand
Third position is time set
