Hi

I have a pam 960... the original design is 300m waterproof.... what about the reps? Out of the box or can they be waterproofed?

Not. They may have a minimum WR, but you should not rely on it, and in case of problems, no one will compensate. But, in most cases, they can be sealed by the master. 300 m., You are unlikely to get anyway.

Nevertheless, I regularly wash all my rep panerais with soap, and there were only one problems, and I swam my 305 and 299 with no consequences, but did not dive. But, this is all at your own peril and risk.

I was lucky if you are lucky - I do not know. But I would, in your place, first give them to the waterproofing master to be sure.

I have taken my VSF PAM616 on a 7m dive. Just make sure you tighten the caseback. Silicone the crown stem and fasten the CG screws.

Did you mean 70m dive , or rather a precautionary tale?

All my watches have been waterproofed by my watchmaker. He has changed all gaskets for ones of much better quality. They pass the 10 atm (100mts) test without problem and I have never had any problem in the water.

???????????????? I think one rep are for take a shower or swimming... No more. The replica makers takes care about the details but not too much about waterproof or pressure.

Apart from the crown and case back areas, water can also enter the watch through the sides of the crystal on the front of the watch. This was the case with one of my bronzos, and so no swimming with that one. It only has minimal 3m WR which means it will only resist a light splash...

The watch tech ado213 has a very interesting article somewhere on the forum regarding the WR problems.

I don't understand why it's worth taking the risk...why dive with it, who's going to see it down there, why not just leave it in the car until you're done? If you need the time, wear a cheap dive watch?

These are replicas...don't count on them to be both 90% cheaper AND perform like the gen. Doesn't work that way!
