PAM 6497 won't wind. $500 - $700 to fix.

I made a thread a while back about how the top prong of the watch came out. I took it to a local repair shop in the mall and they placed a generic screw to hold the prong it. However, the next day the watch wouldn't wind at all.

I took it to a local watchsmith and they're saying it's going to be a pretty expensive fix of $500 - $700. Seriously, for a replica 183G?

Btw, how much could I sell the watch for as is.

The Evergreen State
Jackson Tse sells a swan neck 6497 for $35 or so plus shipping.

You might ask Katt if he'll do a movement swap for you (you send the movement to him.)

I feel that any money I spend over $75 - better off just getting a new watch. Have to consider s/h that's going to be another $5, so we're not at $80 invested. Shipping it to Katt or anybody else atleast $15, so we're now up to $95 invested. Their labor charges and return shipping. Safe to assume, we're looking at $150 invested?

That's the problem. Could it be the swan neck that is defective? Actually, I don't think my watch has a swan neck.

Did the watchsmith think it was a gen?
Nope, they know it's a replica.

$500 to $700?
The guy is a con man. As has been said the MVT is valued at well under 100 bucks. Even a brand new Swiss Unitas 6497 is far, far less than that price.

What 500$ for a repair. That's crazy, its a super easy repair how are they trying to charge you 500$ only thing is maybe they thought it was a gen. You need to go to a different watch smith, a full service should code around 40$-100$ depending on who does it.

Not sure if that other seller is CONUS, or even where you are OP... but if you are in the States, you can also get this one. Little more expensive, but a lot quicker(if that site isnt in the US).

I bought one from them, had it in a couple days.

Haha, great minds think a like. I saw this yesterday as well. However, I'm just wondering how do we know the movement is bad, and it isn't the actual generic screw which is causing the problem. That's my main concern.

Strodda, also this may come off sounding like a spoiled brat, but I'd like the back to the "officine panerai" as most of these watches do.

You can just change over the movement plates to the Panerai engraved ones.
