PAM 569 small second not moving smoothly

Hello all PAM friends, i am searching for advice. Just today i received the PAM 569 from Toro. Transaction was smooth, the watch came nicely packed. I put it on, moved around a bit. The issue i observe is, that the small sevond is not moving smoothly. Its even jumping sometimes. On top, the rotor seems to be loud (it actually IS loud).
So before i go the way, that i send it to Toro to fix it (and wait until x-mas to have it back), is there maybe something to look for, if i open it myself?
Any experience?
Maybe a loose screw or something like this. Many thanks.

Loud rotors are normal-ish, not much you can do about the seconds hand without opening it up and visually checking if the seconds hand touches the dial/lume or anything. Are there dragging marks on the dial?

The small second is nicely placed above the dial and has in the whole rotation the same distance from it... Hm... Hour and minute works fine (keeps time well). I will wear it today / tomorrow and see.

Maybe its because its still not fully winded...

Anyhow, thanks for the thoughts [emoji106]

I would suggest taking the watch to a rep-friendly watchsmith near you (get the go ahead from toro first, maybe discuss how to split the repair costs).

Let me guess, it's an st2555 movement?
I had one that did the same, stuttering second hand that would even pause and then jump ahead.

The st2555 requires transfer gears to give it a seconds @ 9 hand (unlike a 7750), so it's likely these gears that are messed up.

Best to send it back as it's only a $40 movement and probably not worth a pricey service IMHO.

Good luck!

You are guessing right, it is. I already had a discussion with Natas, will buy a new one after agreeing on something with Toro and send it to Natas to swap it. I know, he is an artist, not exactly for this kind of jobs, but he was so kind and i was happy. And thanks guys for help!

Well, i know, that the service will not be for free, but i just dont want to risk the chinese customs when sending it back plus the 6-8 weeks of waiting time. The watch is a beauty, so thats why i will go the EU way, even at a higher pricepoint. I hope, i can agree with Toro on a rebate with the next purchase and thats it. Will see. Thats the risk with this hobby :)

Servicing a 2555 is a waste of time and money. Ofrei has brand new movements for about $60 shipped.

That's the problem on my old one with ST2555:

Maybe send him another email, are you sending it to his email or the QC email? Try both with a quick note explaining the issue.

Hi, thanks for the hint. Anyhow, have 3 mail adresses, sent to all of them, one on monday to one adress with just stating the issue with atached video and asking for solution proposal, another one wednesday to the same one and the remaining two, where i already directly proposed him the solution. That fault should be easily detected by dealer's QC :-(
Thta is what QC is supposed to be, not just for shooting pics.
I would suggest , to let your dealer know about that, and politely ask for remplacement, sent it back to China.

Unfortunately, to some extent, I wouldn't consider it a flaw that needs to be detected... more of an unfortunate characteristic.

So, have an update from Toro, which is for me a bit ridiculous: "I just talked with KW factory , they said all the low beat ST 21600bph movements are normal like this". The moral of the story is: Do not go for KW ST movement models, as they are all like this (wtf?). I know, its a replica game and i will solve it myself, but this is a bad joke

Unfortunately I've experienced the same problem with my PAM441 KW SEAGULL ST2555. Nothing you can really do in that case except to avoid the said models. To resend it would be to much of a risk.

I would suggest to mention this problem in the PAM Bible to advise all members.

Best regards,

It's unfortunate, but honestly not a joke. It's a lower beat movement that had a second hand powered by an extra two opinions and a gear. All those transfers, along with a lowbeat will result in the stutter. Seagull versions are cheaper than 7750s for a reason, and that would be one.

Hi Strodda, is it possible to swap the ST movement by a A7750 in this PAM? I have one new ST on the way, but the watch looks great, if it is possible, i would rather go for a more reliable option. Thx.
