Pam 187

I haven't bought a watch in awhile and just got back into researching my next buy. I have already decided to buy the Pam 390 and also want the Pam 187. Although the Pam 187 is a Super Rep (Ale guide) it doesn't seem very popular. Is it because of its size or is their something I am missing. It seems like a super cool watch.

I have both of them...
They are completely different watches..
The 390 is closer to the so-called 1:1 that we all want...but the 187 is what I like more..
The price tag is the reason that it's not so popular..440$ for the a7753 version (without shipping) is kinda expensive..

I really do like mine a lot.
I bought a very comfortable calf strap and wear it often, getting a good workout-it's heavy.

I like mine a lot, gets the most wrist time of all my reps.
It's expensive (> $500) by the time you dress it with a decent strap, but it is a good quality piece.
Big and heavy is right; got keep the strap real tight to keep it from sliding down the wrist.

187 is the best replica of panerai nonetheless i have it and rarelly take it out due to the size... is for summer time in my opinion when you have short sleeve... otherwise... with the shirts... impossible!

Most likely you are talking about A7750 version because the A7753 version is AR single coated like the gen and good lume (no super lume)

Nope, I have the the A7753, a few months old. Lume is definitely weak compared to other pams - fades very quickly. The pearl does not look gen, it looks plastic although I don't think it is. I've read that the color of the lume is off, but maybe not on the A7753? Not sure about that one. Also, the numbers on the bezel are slightly off. The 1 and 5 are not exactly centered, nor are the 3 and 0. The 45 looks fine. If the AR on the gen is the same, great.

Super rep? I wouldn't say so however I have not seen them compared side by side. I think the rep would be too easy to call out next to the gen, therefore not a super rep.

Mine is a few months old and the lume is definitely not weak.
I'll try to snap some timelapse pics next to my Monster for comparison.

Haven't examined the bezel that closely to detect the other defects.

Here is what I know about the rep 187G with A7753. I am very familiar with this watch. It is built like a tank. You will feel the quality of the case just from the weight alone. The only area of the case that is suspect is the date change screw on the case at the 10 o'clock position. It can easily be damaged from too much pressure when tightening.

Accuracy wise here are the tells. The pearl is not recessed and flat like the gen. The lume of the hands are not lighter than the dial markers like the gen. And finally, the date window is closer to the 5 rather than exactly in between the 4 and 5.
Lume strength wise it's hard to say. Being that the gen is a T-dial the lume should not be as bright as the modern watches with super luminova. As a result I think it's the same as gen.
I still love this watch!

The 187g/7753 is a well built watch, but its not for everyone.. Its big, wears heavy, and as you can see from a good portion of the pics, people changed out the strap on it. I dont really care for the rubber that comes with it.. its the better of the pan rep rubber straps, but it doesnt have the best fit (watch head slides around a bit)

on the 7753, granted there are no problems, the chronos work, (keep them screwed in if you are making contact with water), theres been some noting of "wobble" in the 3oclock chrono dial, and also read up on the 7750/7753 forums about proper resetting procedures, and date setting procedures for these movements.

Other than that, its different strokes for different folks.
