The link that briank posted is not for the regular Asian Unitas copy. It is an altogether new and different movement, so don't worry.

Yes it is a movement that has been around for a couple of months now, and yes it is on a watch by watch basis. The movement is flawed and I gatherd that it might be more than a coincidence that he was experiancing the exact same problem reported with the problematic mvt. please see here... not trying to scare anyone

Yes, that movement is showing problems. However, the model Pete purchased is the standard Asian movement with no swan neck.

I do it everyday my friend.

You are right about the other movement though. Seems that every time they try to improve reps they start out wrong.

This may help even more.....

Most of the newer Asian movements are actually pretty good now. The Asian 21j auto movment is much improved over the previous models and keep very good time. The new Asian 7750 movements running at 28,800 bph are very good. Last but not least the Asian manual "unitas" movements have proved to be very reliable as well.

The only real problem with any of the Asian movements is getting them worked on. Many watchsmiths do not want to work on an Asian movement. However, with many of the newer models they are very hard to tell if they are ETA or Asian so they may be a little more willing. Plus the Asian movements are typically so cheap that if they break you can just replace them.

The other thing to keep in mind is that almost all the movements used in reps are Asian born. They are either straight up Asian copy movments based off of an ETA model or they are ETA movements that are manufactured in Asia. Last I heard there are not too many movements found in reps that are actually made in Switzerland and imported to Asia.
