Jhericurls, I can see the distortion you're talking about, there's a definite line in the crystal and that's not normal. Most of the time there's some distortion when looking at the numbers from an angle, almost as if they split and don't line up. You're crystal looks good at the numbers, but the line is definitely not normal.

I've got a v1 noob 127 and the crystal has very bad distortion. That being said, I ordered 5 of the new, noob 127 V4's, and received them a couple of weeks ago. The V4's I received all have a way better crystal than the other versions, the 5 I received are flawless. Not to mention, the gold lettering on back is closer to the gen, and doesn't have the yellowish color. Something else I noticed on the V4's is the cannon pin now seems to be flush like the gen, rather than the small nipple in the middle of it. You might want to look into putting a WSO crystal on your 127.

Slaughterer...was he selling crystals through Davidsen...and is that DSN?
There was a lot of talk on the other forums about DSN crystals, but I try and stay off the other forums. And I looked through Davidsens threads here for a while..but got kinda burned out. I'll send him a message.
I read stuff going back to like 2007 on these damn crystals, mostly just distortion issues, which I would definitely live with over this other thing.
And aren't the WSO's like $150.00?? Thats big money right there.

No, the 217 crystal is not a DSN, but was sold by modder member "rex450" on RG a few years back.

How was the lastest version of 127? The distortion is still there?
I just ordered one.

Some have that ridge and some don't. I was lucky enough to source a Noob crystal without a ridge. Very nice quality and had Marlin put it in one of my builds.

UNFORTUNATELY my two year old got a hold of it and smashed it against our floor and shattered it.... :(

If you see breaks in the crystal then its a good chance you will have that ridge affect.

My WSO crystal is on route, so will report back once I've it installed.

There are breaks, which are somewhat normal, being the refraction caused by the transition from the curve to the flat part of the crystal…then there is a much more serious issue, which is the one with the definite ridge…actually a double ridge. It is noticeable ALL the time, except maybe when you are in direct sunlight. Under most any regular lighting it is very obvious and all you see when you look at the watch, just like Jhericurl said, once seen it can't be unseen.
Look at Jhericurls' earlier photos and this photo again. It looks like a protective sticker or a giant contact lens. Another problem is this doesn't show up in QC pics due to the way they photograph them.
The dealers know about this, and their answer is to send it back to them and they will send another, which is great…but the answer for many customers is to live with it, or buy and install a different crystal…and that is an added expense which adds another $150.00 or whatever to the cost of this rep. If the dealers want to be straight up about this…they need to first admit there's a problem…then maybe separate them out, and offer up the ones with the crappy crystal for regular price…and the ones with a better crystal for $150 more, and let us make our own decision. And take more honest QC photos…that show the problem, like we have.

A whole other question, where did you pick up that strap?

Ha! Rockfish, I've had more comments on this strap than anything I've ever posted :)

It's a Drabott Swiss Logo strap. Here ya go...

http://www.drabottstraps.com

They are my second favorite strapmaker

His straps look nice, but there is so little information on his site.

It looks looks like quality work

Got my qc pics and it appear to have a slight distortion on the 12 and 6 Oclock position. Requested them to change another piece. Hoping they can get one.

PT changed it for me and I just accepted it. I think the obvious line is no longer there.

Thanks for the confirmation. I hope I made the right choice as there isn't a side angle picture on the crystal.

One question on the 127 owners, the strap and buckle that came with the watch, what size is it? 26/24 or 26/26? Buckle is screw in or sew-in?

I went for the black gator strap: 115/70 (without buckle) , 26/26, screw buckle.
And by the way, my crystal is very close to perfect.
