Before you jump in and buy a 111, what is the size of the top of your wrist and is it relatively flat or curved ? I have a 195mm wrist and it is very flat on top . The 111 sits much better than a 1950 case.

I got a 6.5 inch flat wrist but can handle a 42mm VSF seamaster... I'm assuming 44mm Panerai models are comparable

Don't assume, it isn't so much the quoted face diameter as the back profile of a watch that determines how it wears. The 111 is flatter, 1950 is more curved (like most 47mm models) a flat 6.5"" will probably be better suited to the 111

1950 case is not the easiest to wear, hope you got the message

Yeah I'm going with the 111 for now. I'll have to stop by an AD to try out a 1950s case to see if it's compatible with my wrist

And then the hunt for a Noob 111 starts.... Good luck, and do let us know which TD has them ;).

I have had both. And both are spectacular. But finally my heart has settled on 312.
The 1950 case has a larger watch look (perhaps because the dial is larger than the 111) and I love that.
Although I have to say that the 111 is also a fantastic choice. A classic. A watch of those "a lifetime".
I do see an indisputable advantage, in my opinion, that 111 has over 312, the movement. It is much easier to find parts or even Swiss movements for a 6497 than for a cloned P9000.

But I agree with the others that you should buy both and try for yourself which of the two satisfies you the most.

For me the 312 is just more refined. The case is more elaborate even though it's subtle. You have more harmonious curves in my opinion, less boxy, you have the mix of brush and polished

But too everyone their own

Ah and metal hands Vs the plastic looking white second hand and the black hour and minute hands.

I completely agree that everyone has his own, but I want to note that 111 also has a sandwich dial.

Okay, interesting update...

I went to a Panerai AD today to try out some models.

I tried the replacement of the 111 of which the model's name escapes me, and the 1312, and some 47mm models.

I was very surprised to find that the 111-equivalent, while very nice, did not connect with me. The 1950 case did much much more. Not only that, the 1950 case wrapped around my wrist nicer!

I loved the brush case and polished bezel. I loved the case shape over the standard Luminor. The all polish 111-E did not look as striking.

And an even crazier outcome was that while trying out the 47mm variants, I was able to wear them well. So much so that the AD said he preferred the 47mm on me.

In all honesty, if the rep was still produced I'd go for the 47mm 127 by Noob. Does anyone know why they stopped making it? I thought it was a hit...

I will have to change my order from the 111 to the 312. I don't like the thickness nor the date of the 312 but the pros outweigh the cons... if the 1312 ever gets repped I'll sell the 312 and go for the 1312 instead. They both have cons but the 312 definitely edges it out for me.

An unexpected reversal. The PAM1312 was made, as rep as far as I remember, but it will be thinner than the 312.Now it is not produced, but you can find one m2m .

I'm just as surprised as you are haha

Do you know which factory used to produce the 1312 you are referring to?

When it comes to m2m I'm definitely keeping my eyes on the 127 as well

The PAM1312 was ZF and V6F. The main thing to pay attention to is to have the correct shape of the case, the first versions were with the old 1950 case like the 312.

Thanks for the response.

The 1312 and 127 are huge community favorites. I genuinely have no idea why factories would stop making heavy hitters...

Something to consider is whether you are OK with the hand wounding movement of the 111, especially if you plan to wear it on a regular basis. Some people may find it a chore to wind the watch every 1-2 days while some enjoy it

Thats the best part. You are manually giving the watch life. Then you hear its heart ticking.
