Hey guys,

I am new to the repworld and this forum, first of all, it's cool to see how enthusiastic a community can be and how everyone shares their knowledge in this hobby. As the good noob I am I first spent quite a while lurking and reading different posts, among which I found the NWBIG list. Here I saw the following Panerai model: PAM 111 - Luminor Marina (44mm) N-series Noob V3 (and later). I really liked this model and decided to research it further. I went on Toro Bravos's website and looked at the PAM 111 offered there and saw 2 variants, one with a Swiss ETA and one with an Asian movement. (listed as: Pam 111N V4 swiss ETA (or asian) with correct Y incabloc from N factory Upgrade). I decided to tackle the forums yet once more to find out more information on this particular Noob model. Some said that the movement was an asian clone, but these were from 2014. After not being able to find a conclusive answer, I've decided to post my own post about it. So, Does this "Swiss ETA" Panerai rep actually have a Swiss ETA movement in it or is it a clone?

Sometimes it's a clone, sometimes it's an old Swiss ETA, sometimes it's Swinese. You will have to ask the TD for confirmation.

Aside from that, if you want a swiss movement, it can be done by sending it off to a mod to have installed. Comb through the tech and supporting vendors section and you'll find members who can do this work for you.

By decorated I'm assuming you're referring to the word PANERAI engraved / repeated across the movement plates?

That would depend on a couple things, mysterio correct me as I think you'd know, the 111 was made in both a sandwich and painted dial, painted dials were mid-2000's (2004, 2005, 2006?) and sandwich dials are after. Depending on dial, it's either decorated in the painted or not for sandwiches.

That said, about 98% of the people you meet won't have a clue what kind of watch you're wearing or know what dial it has, much less the type of movement it has.

Check out Marlin's garage to see what he does with 111's.

Who, me? What do I know?

Well you don't need correcting, the PAM111 indeed used the sausage (otherwise called a painted) dial from A-G series. Panerai switched to the sandwich dial starting from H-series and never changed back. Coincidentally, they also switched from the grafitti (PANERAIPANERAIPANERAI) movement decoration to the now familiar Côtes de Genève or CdG decoration starting from H-series. :)
