I have a friend (obviously older than I) who happens to be one of the top Panerai representatives in the country. I would just like to share that today at lunch I showed him my new Panerai which I purchased off "e-bay" and he claimed that it was most definitely genuine. The quality of this thing is INSANE!

I know showing Replicas to AD's is against the rule here but this is a close, personal friend.

Wow. And here we are going nuts about the tiniest of details :)

(This is coming from someone who's having an incabloc mod done to a 111n to make it more gen like ha!)

So what's the upside? He goes back to Richemont with this info so they can crackdown?

Now your friend is saying to Panerai how to make a perfect CG copying the Noob!!
Anyway, that was not a very good idea !! Be careful.

There is no downside CLS, first and foremost he thought it was a genuine, second of all he wouldn't care. And yes it is one of Panerais top reps haha I know it is funy but these things are made so well, very funny ale!!

your bound to get some negative remarks to your post. Our practice it to keep our scene discreet regardless of how futile it may seem with google searches pulling up equal or more rep hits than gen....it sounds like Hamptons presented the watch as Pam he got off of the bay and was asking his friend if he had purchased a gen or a fake, I'm sure Hamptons didn't disclose anything more.

Getting your first rep, especially one as outstanding as the V3 is insanely exciting...feels good don't it :) enjoy!

You are correct my friend, thank you for congratulating me on my purchase :) this post was to illustrate the phenomenal detail put into the noob version, because I personally had a very difficult decision between the H and N version

I think if you want the congratulations, post it here. Taking it to a representative of the brand to see if they can tell the difference seems a bit foolish. What if they could tell the difference? Is there potentially a worse person to show it to?
I guess you could show it to your friend from the Homeland Security.

Lol you're making this much more than it is. Im 17 year's old and this is a close family friend. I merely asked if he thought the panerai my dad purchased for me off of ebay was genuine or not. In no conversation did I mention "replica" nor RWI!

In most rep forums what you just did is reason enough to get you banned. Showing off your reps to an AD or similar is stupid and attracts unwanted attention to this hobby. There's a certain code of conduct amongst rep collectors and you just broke one of its most basic rules. Not cool, not cool at all. And you actually thought it would he a good idea to brag about it.

BTW your "top Panerai representative" friend should go to an optician ASAP.

So let me make sure I understand what you did: You lied to a, "...close family friend."

Now you are telling us about it for some reason. And what is that reason, exactly?

I agree this was a bad idea
Hard to stop behavior like this though and all it takes is a YouTube or google search to see how good the current generation of reps has become
So not sure there is any point in trying to prevent it anymore either

One thing is for ADs to find random pictures and links to Asian websites. Another very different is to have these 'bright minds' showing off their reps at their door step.

This kind of behaviour really rubs me the wrong way. That and newbies requesting charge backs and filling PP disputes for a missing screw.

Being a newbie is no excuse, I've been in the rep game for just a couple of months and all it takes is to be active in the forums (ie read a lot) and use common sense.
