Unfortunately I have no idea, how to check the series of the CG?@pf78 Just wondering which Hfac base case you used for your build? Is your CG a Series A-F?
I too prefer the non-matching look, it's kind of an NOS look, with the pam 36, did the dial lacquer react with the lume to turn the numbers orange? Like the 5218, or did they manufacture it that way? After looking at @Woundup 's 036 build thread I noticed two things:
1. White hands should be fine, the once and for all solution is reluming the hands to off-white to get rid of the greenish white sheen
2. The CG pin needs some attention, the shape of the pin doesn't sit flush with the CG
This is what my 036 looks like after 10 minutes, I pushed the pin out a tiny notch, then used a nail file to sand the pin
I don't quite get what you mean but I think the watch 'reacts' with the sun differently since the hands are in a different colour, the hands will turn greendid the dial lacquer react with the lume to turn the numbers orange? Like the 5218, or did they manufacture it that way?
Sorry, the story goes, on the 5218/201A panerais from early 90s, the lume on dial and hands was all green/whiteI don't quite get what you mean but I think the watch 'reacts' with the sun differently since the hands are in a different colour, the hands will turn green
I believe that the hands on the 036 would have had white lume if you had purchased one new back in 1999. The cream colour seen in more recent photos of the gen is the effect of age and possibly a reaction to the tritium. Lighting also plays a role in how cream the hands look - my own hands look more cream in this picture taken in natural light than under artificial:
@pf78 The series A-F crown guards in general will have a lever without roller ball, and the shape of the CG is pretty much flat on the top.Unfortunately I have no idea, how to check the series of the CG?
The CG pin is polished
