@Maraach I wore the watch today, and when I hand wound it, the rotor didn't move. However, if I then moved the watch, the rotor would spin a lot, like the mechanism was releasing the hand wound reserve...

There is a "spring" that stops the reverse wheel from rotating backwards... but then there is also a spring that should be stopping the ratchet wheels from turning as well. Either way, definitely something that should be fixed. If you're able to find a local guy that will work on it, just ensure him that the ETA parts will work. If hard not an option, and you want to ship it out, let me know and I can help.

Are we sure about this? Strodda has worked on my a7750 and suggests there is no problem hand winding the newer a7750. Personally i dont make a habbit of doing it btw but im getting mixed messages.

I could be wrong, as I am not a watchsmith or watch movement expert.
However, I have a firm believe that a A7750 "automatic" should not require ANY 'hand wound' to work. They should work only with a little shake from your hand.
Secondly, I have sent my short PR A7750s in the past to a multiple watchsmith in my town, hopefully for them to fix the PR to be longer (like a good A7750), sure I ever got a 2hr PR A7750 fixed to 8hr, but none did ever give me 24hr++ (like a good 7750).

It is my understanding that the A7750 automatic has a high torque gearing and soft metal which can be easily damaged by vigorous hand winding. The manual wind versions have this gearing modified make them more robust. My personal A7750 movements usually require about 5-10 hand winds to start and when fully charged, last for 38+ hours. I have had two serviced, one swapped to gen ETA 7750 and a 7751 Datora that has yet to be serviced. Even the unserviced Datora lasts for about 35 hours on a full charge, and the gen lasts for 42+ hours. Bottom line is you have a issue with the movement and it needs to be addressed. I recommend sending it to Strodda and get it fixed correctly.

IMO, I don't see much of a problem with manual winding. Whenever I've put on a watch that has stopped, I have always wound 15-20 times to give it a decent reserve before strapping on.

About the modified manual wind 7750 that's found in a few PAMs... I have worked on a couple, and unless they used a stronger steel that's not visually different, I cannot tell a difference between a standard 7750 and the modified manual ones. The keyless' look the same.

Strodda I would love your input on if you could help! You work on watches correct? Shoot me a PM!

I tried to find a guy in Calgary, and yeah, one guy scratched the back of the watch up taking the back off. I was a sad, but not much you can do.
