PAM 026K problems

Right, so I got my 026 delivered today, and happy as a child on x-mas eve I ripped open the package and found the beauty inside the layers of wrapping. I must say this is one of the best looking things I've ever had on my wrist, but unfortunately my joy was soon to be crushed as the secondhand subdial completely stopped at the 20 sec mark. I tried turning the watch to see if a different angle would help and surely, the second hand started moving again. But it happened again, and again... and again. It's not that it's having problems with one specific angle, rather most/ all of them. There is surely something wrong here and I'm gonna have to have it fixed somehow.

The only thing is that sending it back to China will probably take a month including the fixing. As I am going to Spain for my fathers 70th birthday on the 15th I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Is there any way I could get this fixed in Europe/UK? as I'd hate to have to wait another month to wear it, and shipping back to China seems like a long and tideous process. If it is possible to fix closer to home, what would the cost of such an operation be?

Anyways, thanks for reading and I really do hope someone could help me out here. Just sitting here in an absolute slump right now, having waited by the door for the last 3 days to ambush the mailman. Oh well, I guess this is the game huh?....

Like I said, please list any solutions you might have and other comments.

I also had an issue with one of the new PAMs from the H factory. I opened the watch and realized the dial foot were not secured

Maybe you've got a similar issue with yours. If so, the factory should fix it for free.

Take it to a local, "old" Glasgowian watchsmith. Thats it. Easy fix for fraction of the price (shipping back to China) and time.

you're right Wiz..sounds like the seconds hand is rubbing against the dial, causing it to stop..

check the dial to see if there is any rubbing marks..

if so, perhaps bringing the watch to a local watchsmith to tighten the dial to the movement would be alot faster than sending back to china..

the dealer should also be informed..let him know of your plan of action and ask for a credit/refund on your next purchase or something along those lines..

if it is a trusted dealer, they will definitely help..

all the best!

Happened to me before..i feel your pain..but it is part of the rep game..hang in there..

Thanks for the replies guys, I've already emailed the seller who seems to be ready to take it back to fix it, but I still kinda want to fix this without waiting, well, forever. I can't see any marks from rubbing and I can't make out how far the second hand is spaced from the dial due to the distortion of the crystal. I'm guessing I could try to take it to a watchsmith, but the few I've approached before seems hesitant to deal with reps, but I do know that one of the local markets has a few watchdealers who might be able to help altho it looks kinda dodgy. Hmmm, not sure what to do.

anyone from the forum that can help out here?

if u cant wait, are you good with your hands? perhaps you might want to try opening up the caseback and do a lil 'examination' on your own..

this sounds like a simple fix and if you know what you're doing, shouldnt take more than an hour or so..or leaving it at the watchsmith shouldnt cost more than a couple quid..ask the dealer to buy you a round whilst you wait for the watch to get fixed..

lol :)

I can take a look at it but if that's something more serious and I need to order some parts, you'll most likely won't have it back before the 15th.

Right guys, first off thanks for all the suggestions. I'm gonna try to find a watchsmith in town on of the following days to have a look, simply because I might have problems receiving the watch at my current address in about a month. First I'm going on vacation and then moving house for the summer. Hopefully the issues with the watch won't be too problematic for a 'smith to fix and the cost reasonable. I'll update as I go along I guess ;/. Btw, thx for the offer Wiz but I recon I should exhaust the local options first.

are you winding it correctly? it is a destro. you need to wind towards the 12 o’clock position. Just a suggestion if you did not already know this.

Correct winding direction on a destro is from 12 to 6.

It's not about how I wind it, it's like: one second the second hand is running fine, the next it stops, then it starts again if i twist the watch or slightly tap it on the caseback. Lately it seems to have "settled" at the 45 sec mark tho.

Anyways, I took it out to a couple of watch repair shops in town. Both places said they'd have to send it away and seemed rather incompetent. One guy was telling me that the battery must have ran out, this just seconds after me telling him it was a manual wind movement. The other place seemed just as surprised and one of the three fellows behind the cashier said that he'd never seen a right hand watch before before turning to his partner who was shaking his head. I think I'll try at the Barras market when the weekend comes around. I think I've seen a few dodgy looking watches around, and there's a few used watch retailers there that also do watch repairs.

I have the same problem as you. Brought my 26K and when I wind it, it keeps the charge, then after a while it stops for no apparent reason.

Sending it back to get it fixed.

One of the problems with 026 is that the movement is junk.
You would be better off spending 35 bucks and getting a high beat mvmt from getat.

This.... While I LOVE, and I mean LOVE the 26k... No pictures can do it justice....

The movement feels like total crap, when you wind it or set it. There is no doubt that it's going to go eventually, so I've relegated myself to this.

I'm shopping for a movement for the day it lets go.

Pity, they put such a crappy movement into this beauty.

Thanks for all the help guys, I'll have another go this weekend to see if I can get it fixed somewhere, otherwise it goes back to China. It's not that I love the movement or that it's too expensive to get a new one in my opinion, more the principle that the watch itself is new, and that I think as a minimum, that whan a watch is shipped out it should be working. Just my opinion tho.
