My thinking is it is likely all horse hockey.

I'm a horological moron- but I think you just need this:

and a pokey thing to remove your stem to grease those gaskets.

And a caseback tool to open and remove the caseback gasket to grease it. there is not much else they are going to do other than that to "waterproof" your watch.
