There really is no such thing as an OTB 1675 ready to go.

The version you posted has inaccuracies in the case, crown, dial, ect.

If you want a nice watch to wear with no modding then go for it, however, if you want somthing accurate then you will need to build it.

I recently got myself a Cartel 1675, after advice from other members, which any of the dealers can source for you.

It does need some mods really and it all depends how much you want to spend.

Mine is being modded at the moment, and the parts that are being changed are the dial, and the insert, it will also be aged to look less like a brand new watch.

Rols, that is a great looking looking watch. I love the 1675 and after I am able to work on a 6538 project I want to do a 1675.

Be sure to connect with Sneed. He has a couple of must-do mods to the movement. The first is he removes a gear or something and it locks the GMT hand in synch with the hour and minutes hands, just like the genuine GMT Master movement was. Another mod he does is he is able to remove the GMT modifications from the movement and transfer them over to a 2846. So not only do you get the correct low beat, it's an ETA and the GMT hand is locked. It's brilliant. He can explain it to you or I am pretty sure he has pics of it so you can do it yourself if you work on your own movements.

As mentioned before, start with a Cartel cased watch. If you ever want to mod it, you have the perfect base. The Andrew Cartel 1675 looks so good in person. I just bought my second one. Search "open 6" on the TT site and you will find the Coke, Pepsi, and black with white or vintage, with jubilee or folded oyster. I got the jubilee and bought the folded (he has it for sale, I think $55). I prefer the vintage as the logo is still white and the dw is off white. The pure white lume dial would be better for modding, but if you want convincing vintage out of the box, it is great. I've seen a lot of gen 1675 pieces and it is pretty common to see them in every conceivable shape, from new looking to trashed, so you can't go wrong. Correct hand stack, as well. Mine even had some crazy decorations on the movement. Hoping my new one has the markings as well. The obvious tell to me is the bottom of the crown guards are pretty chunky, but I would wear it with some light exterior modding and be happy with it. I also bought a Clark crystal and insert for it, but I don't know if it is really as necessary as people seem to think.

I have a few questions as I'm not sure about a couple of things:)
BTW I have the Trevor Cartel 1675 watch.

(1) I can get a 1675 Bezel set & a Pepsi Insert all from Clark, that will fit on this watch?

(2) I noticed from the links, that the bezel set is designed for a Plexi/plastic 'crystal', so I will need to get one of these from Clarks aswell??

(3) Does clark supply a replacement dial and is one recommended??

(4) I'm really puzzled by the GMT modification. Basically, you can remove the GMT pinion/gear (& other gears I assume) and fit them to an ETA2846 (This is the low beat version of the 2836-2 currently fitted). You could swap all the gears over BUT I don't understand this thing about fixing the GMT to the hour hand??

Does this mean you are no longer able to independantly set the GMT hand? For example living in the UK, I might set the GMT to GMT, but in the summer we go an hour ahead. I can see how you could fix this to be the case when re-fitting the hands and removing the GMT setting gear. BUT if the GMT hand slipped etc then you would not be able to fix it??

One more question on the GMT movement. Are all the pinions the same length? I know that the GMT second hands have a longer tube. But are the minute and hour pinions the same length or do these need to be swapped over too??

Either way I would be gratefui for any guidance !!:)

P.S Any cheap sources of the 2846 movement??

Many people don't realize that the original GMT Master did not have any ability to set the GMT hand. It was locked in place with the rest of the hands, just like the original Explorer II 1655. It's one and only purpose was to show the time in 24 hour format, while the hands showed the time in 12 hour format. That's it. The GMT Master had a rotating bezel, which you could then use to tell time in a 2nd time zone. The original Explorer II only displayed time in one timezone. You used thehands for 12 hour format and the bezel and GMT hand for the same time in 24 hour format.

It was the GMT Master II that allowed the GMT hand to tell time differently from the rest of the hands and allowed you to tell a 2nd time zone with the GMT hand. The rotating bezel then allowed you to tell time in a 3rd time zone. Actually, the GMT hand is still locked in synch with the minutes and hour hand, but you can move the hour hand forwards or backwards to allow this difference in time telling. So you aren't actually moving the GMT hand - it is the hour hand that you are decoupling and advancing forwards or backwards. It's absolutely genius. The 3185 and 3186 are hands down the best GMT movements on the planet.

Huge difference in function between the GMT Master and GMT Master II and they are not to be confused with each other. They are two completely different watches and the movements are light years apart from each other.

Sneed's modification dumbs the movement down to match what the GMT Master movement did. At the same time, it also removes the reliability issues that many people have with these modified movements. It solves two problems at the same time - makes it perform like the genuine GMT Master and it makes it reliable. Win win!

No / depends on what you're after. I personally think the cartel rep dial is acceptable.

I'll have had a quick look at your link, Sneed and the works looks pretty straight forward :):) - very nice post BTW!!

But I hate re-fitting GMT hands..bloody pain in the arse!!

I really do like the 1675 I got from Trevor and the GMT movement actually works OK! Only slight nag, is that the date wheel is probably very slightly off - I'll probably leave it..

All I got to do is fine a Swiss ETA2846 ??? There's a couple on ebay for about $90??

Looks like the Clarks Bezel set and Plexi Glass aren't available :( :( - I can't see them on his ebay shop front anymore???
I could email him, do I just ask for the 1675 bezel set, pepsi insert and plexi glass??
