Opinion: gen crystal with AR cyclops is the best upgrade for your watch

I try to educate myself every day and I hope I don't ask a stupid question now.
But:

You're talking about Gen Crystal and AR Cyclops - is it that you just glue it together yourself? Not to mention that you simply separate the Cyclops from the AR Crystal?

I also know that Rolex has been making the Crystal and AR from ONE piece of Crystal since 126610, i.e. no longer sticking them (at least since 2021).

For less than 1/3 of the price the VSF crystals are easily just as good. As long as the cyclops don’t have that weird distorted date issue lol

"Best upgrade" is subjective. If you want to spend $350 on a gen part for a single rep, I would probably agree. If you want to improve a rep to a significant degree and have enough money left over to buy another rep, then a Clark's crystal with AR cyclops is the best upgrade for me.

Here are some examples

I tend to emphasize quantity over quality, as long as an acceptable minimum standard is met.The more reps you have, the harder it is to justify high dollar upgrades on any single piece.

Probably the light though. This is a zzf V3 which is considered to have one of the best next to VSF

I agree it's an excellent update however, for 'me' I believe it's too expensive. It's over capitalising the asset which you rarely if ever get your money back on.
This is provided you sell it of course.

There are some factory crystals that are more than acceptable & the price difference on a Rolex crystal is just not worth it financially to 'me'.

It's all too easy to over mod/spend on a rep and the only market you can sell it too is super limited as it's only the rep crowd like us.

Again, this is how 'I' see it & no doubt others may have a different position.

Dude lol... You see how quick Genuine crystals sell on the parts section??? As long as you don't play hockey with your watch the crystal should be in good enough condition to sell easily. VSF crystal is the best you can get for the reps but in no way on same level as genuine. I'm not a fan of Prof crystals but I am huge fan of the Clark crystal... Great quality and price!

Is Clark’s better than VSF xtal?

VSF black hole is better but current batch has cyclops edge distortion. Some people don't seem to mind it, since I take a lot of pics it's very noticeable to me. Some people can't tolerate a misaligned rehaut, others hate a flush SEL. You know the drill bro. You can't make a Clark's display distortion no matter what the viewing angle is.

they also have same bh and halo effect.
no need to swap on VSF.
Prof’s crystal have wrong MAG and wrong coating.

i see u have a zzf wich is a long way from VSF’s crystal.
i would have bought VSF hulk than gen crystal for ur zzf.

Gen crystal is on another level for sure, but i would say it is for the 116XXX series, VSF was very close but still not quite there because of the lack of Halo effect. Now, is the upgrade worth 350$? It's up to you, everyone has a different POV, you could use those 350$ to buy another rep, is it worth it? Anyone shall decide for themselves.

For the 126XXX series i'm not that sure, I have a VSF 126610LV incoming and i'll compare it to a 126613, we'll see how different the crystal is. I posted a thread comparing a 126613 and a 126713 and the crystal is visibly different, VSF's 126xxx crystal should be closer to the 126713 because there is less halo effect, if those 2 are comparable then there's no reason to change it for a genuine one

S29 116610 has great crystal, better than S19.

126610 need to change only for distortion effect.

Pretty much this. The first thing that caught my eye in the OP wasn’t the crystal. It was the goofy reppy LV insert.

I agree. The insert, especially the Pip and pearl are pretty bad
