Forgive my stupidity, but if they use the same cases is the pattern moulded from a different material or do they just "dip" a steel case?

By same case, I meant the same shape. Not sure how exactly VSF makes it for their bronze watches.
The new SMPs with the domed crystal and mesh bracelet have a much bigger CG. It looks different compared to the regular SMP. That is why VSF needs to fix it to make it even better than it already is.
Haha I was wondering. If there is a watchmaker who is skilled at welding and would weld metal to the CG and shape it to look more like gen...... I'd happily pay for that. I've seen videos where they weld tiny dents and scratches. Clearly you must have realized that I don't know much about welding but yeah.

Hard to do if there's a coating on it or if it's not pure steel
And you would have to weld a FUCK tonne of metal onto these CG lol, no joke might be cheaper to just CNC a whole new case out lol
Exactly why I didn't say it before now. I assumed it would take a LOT of metal to even get the CG somewhat decent. But yeah.
I still don't get why VSF doesn't make a new case. Like I keep saying. You have to see the gen in person to see how huge the CG on the new watch is!

Obviously the GEN looks amazing, but the REP, imho only, by the pic released looks a bit bland. The REP green/bronze looks better as it pops more. Holding my order for the time being.
