How does the Asian ETA Clone 2824 match to the Swiss 2824-2 on the UPO?

Thanks!
After reading a bunch of topics, i think its safe to say there is no real "swiss" eta's in the rep market. there are gen eta and clone (asian) eta's. Gen eta's are still made in asia, but with swiss parts for the most part :p
Read this thread, it might give you some insight viewtopic.php?f=80&t=49493&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=swiss+vs+asian
and this one from watchuseek http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?p=1547711

goodluck!!

I just want to say.

Thankyou, gone for my first replica a UPO over in the sales section within this forum thanks to this helpful guide!

Well written and sufficed as a great dummy guide for a newbie like myself! Also even managed to go through all the pictures and confirm what I was buying is a UPO!

Already trying to line up my second watch, and buy some tools and additional strap so I play about with this UPO!

Thanks Seb

Hi stilllooking,

The meaning of "UPO" is written in the review. Did you get a chance to read the review (the first post)? If not here is the quote:

"As this is the best ever made 45.5mm PO rep, the term ultimate planet ocean (aka UPO) was created. "

You could also do a search if you wanted to.

I have got to stay out of this forum. Just bought another REP yesterday and was looking around and spotted this Planet Ocean 45mm Blk/Orange RU - Swiss ETA 2824 with Mark at timeshops.net for 260.00 I didnt think I could go wrong.

Was looking for the black leather strap with deployment buckle and orange contrast stitching to complete the look.

Thought I better search the forum for the UPO and it was right at the top, thanks for bumping this thread jambo6!!!

I knew I was suppossed to buy this one.

Guess I will use anything to justify 2 watch purchases in a week!!!

Excellent write up thanks for the info. One question though you bring up an interesting point on the movement and date window font, the "1" and "4".

Does this work the same for the ETA 2836-2 and the Asian Clone? I know your example isnt gen to clone but was hoping that the date worked the same as your example. :?

Taiji,
Thanks for the post. I used the info/picks and pulled the trigger on an orange UPO.

Now I have to wait for delivery.

I own the Planet Ocean 007 Casino Royale edition, and it is identical in every way to the genuine except for 3 things..

1. Movement (of course)
2. Serial (007/5007 ??? WTF)
3. Weight (The replica on rubber band is more heavier than the genuine slightly, I personally like it but its one major difference I noticed when comparing the watches side by side)
