Thank you for all this information.
This is truly one of the reasons this forum is around, to help gain knowledge.

I will not deal with Silix in the future,
as per the current situation you are facing.

I'm really sorry about all the crap your dealing with.
Its not right by any means !
I would have snapped at even 1/2 the mount of crap from a dealer.

Thanks for all your posts.
Keep up updated.

EDIT: i need to learn how to proof read :)

Yep
Im there too. No reason for that. We are getting shit on IMO. The only people I might buy from are Hont D4M and Fakey.

Seems like removing the dealers does not phase them at all so what to do?

Hi Rooster,

Whoa, i must of missed this thread. That is really sad for sure. Wow, another dealer with delivery issues and apparently indifferent to your anxiety and the threat of forum exposure. I hope you get your other package soon my friend. I don't mean to sound niave again, but, I'm shocked that he would do that on the heals of what happen over the summer.

Best wishes for the Holidays!

Matt

Guys, thanks for the support and best wishes... I hope this story will come to a good end.

You know, I was just thinking that it's still unknown what's in the package waiting for me at my neighbour's house. Imagine if I open it in a month's time and it's not what I expected, the watch is broken, or there's another problem with it... I think at that point I will just get the neighbour's dog to take a massive crap in the package, seal it up again, return it to sender, and forget about it.

Anyway, merry Christmas everyone! [smilie=icon_rendeer.gif]

I had a bad transaction with Silix a year ago, which I detailed on RWG. Short version, is I received an Omega X-33, which had unacceptable flaws, which suggested that the watch was not QCd. I discussed the issue with Silix, and took the watch to a local smith (as it was in need of a battery change) At around the same time, Silix was doing a run on Vintage Rolexes, so I ordered one. I forget why, but he also sent a replacement X-33. However, this had the same flaws as the first, and then some, so it was returned, and I kept the first. The Rolex had the wrong dial, and I was promised the correct dial to be shipped out so I could swap them myself. I'd also ordered a Jubilee bracelet to put the watch on. That just never arrived. In the end, after much back and forwards emails, I did not hear anything for months. After a while, Silix came on forum to deal with another issue, and told me that my first package had been seized, but they would re-ship another. Personally, this just sounded like BS, because if the parcel had genuinely been seized, and he knew that (without me getting a customs letter) he could have re-sent the parcel immediately, not wait for me to say nothing had turned up, so in the end, I just told Silix to forget the whole thing, and I would just keep what I had. I didn't ask for refund, but instead, requested that the money be donated to a local animal welfare charity.
All in all, Silix was very pleasant to communicate with, but ultimately, I took it as further proof that Silix is a drop-shipper, rather than performing QC as claimed. Given all that, I would never recommend Silix as a dealer to anyone, and would certainly never waste my time or money trying to order anything else from him...

Rooster, I hope you get some satisfactory resolutions, bro. Seasons greetings :)

Thankfully I haven't encountered the same level of disappointment with Silix as TeeJay or the OP has, but mine was negative on pricing nevertheless. He was a bit slow to respond to emails, but it's acceptable, not every dealer can respond lightning fast.

To put simply, I received a Omega SMP with a clone ETA movement which I paid a total of $240 for, and I was promised gen ETA. He told me that shipping had increased to $40 because of fuel price increases. Excuse me but that's bullshit, it doesn't cost $40 to ship a watch from China via EMS...

That's not good, bro. To be honest, I'd've been more tolerant of the fuel price increase, but, I'd've tacked it onto the costs of the watches rather than the shipping costs... After all, if business overhears increase, the business owner has to pass that cost onto their customers in order to maintain their costs. But to received a clone ETA when you were promised gen ETA, that's just completely unacceptable. Just another reason why I'd never recommend Silix to anyone or spend any money with him...

Precisely. I too understand that overheads for many businesses no doubt increase, and this affects their profits. But I know approx how much mark-up are on these watches, a clone ETA SMP at $240 delivered is a massive mark-up. He would have made a massive profit if he had charged me the original shipping rate, but he asked for that extra $10 because he most probably wanted to cover his PP fees.. but his price worked out to be on par with cartel prices!

Anyway, it happened before the pound busted.. luckily.

At the time I was under the impression that he was the only one selling that particular version of the SMP, (Silix SMP as it was known) but now they are available from all the dealers. It seems it's the only SMP in production now..

Do you mean the one which was not missing the 3 marker? Indeed, it seems to be more readily available now :)
I know what you mean about the profits, afterall, the markup on these watches is huge. Even by not charging extra, he'd still likely have been in profit over the original factory price... At the end of the day, it's just greed. Nothing wrong with wanting to get the coin for yourself and your family's needs, but once you've got that, wanting more is just greedy...

Ok, here's the moment of truth...... Just got back from the holidays and picked up Silix's package from my neighbour... opened it and.............. it's the wrong friggin watch again..... And by the way, I also just realised that the bracelet he sent me a few weeks ago is wrong too (I didn't check it closely when I received it).

Absolutely pathetic.

I am going to let him know about this but then I'm done with it. I'm not even going to try to get a replacement or anything else from him. God knows what I would receive next. I wonder: why do we keep supporting this guy? His presence on this forum should be reviewed. Just terrible.

Ordered skyland strap on 24/ nov /08, recieved a SFSO strap instead  on 12/12/08  . He says he is still trying to get the correct bracelet from the watchmaker :? and that he is bugging him every day  . So now we are almost 2 months since ordering. FFS, this is the last time I order from this guy. He is very nice in his emails but its all just B.S. IMO. How the hell is he still an approved seller? We are all patient people in this game but this takes the piss!

 I think it's about time to see if we could have a rating system for our dealers.

Ratings could be on say, delivery times, price, e-mail response, qc, product as described etc.

I'm not saying do a league table just an e-bay 5 star type thing so that potential buyers can see that dealer 'A' is slow at answering e-mails but delivers a top product whereas dealer 'B' has fast delivery with an o.k. product at a far cheaper price.

Buyers could simply tick a few boxes when commenting on the service they got for their transaction in the dealer section, like when we do a poll.

Or would it be too hard to set up? :?

That is a great idea, I wonder why it isn`t already on here.

Someone was working on a rating system a while back... Can't remember who... Fakemaster maybe?? It's clearly much needed!!

As far as I'm concerned, I have had to resort to putting my "ratings" in my signature, along with my penguins. Since I started doing that, I have received many messages from noobies either thanking me for pointing them in the right direction or for saving them from trouble. I think it's important that we share our experiences with dealers as much as possible. And actually, once their service turns to crap, their presence here should be reviewed before it's too late.

This whole Silix thing is a complete joke and obviously I'm not the only one who's been affected. Time to pull the plug on this guy. Simple as that. Let's keep the bar high in this place!
