Well here seems exactly the place to share the highlight of my week. Small things are often the best they say.
Back in early 2010's I picked up a Panerai and SSDD in one of the backstreets in HK (as you do) for about AUD 160 each. Pricey I thought but I like divers.
The Pan still in fact runs like, well, a clock.
The SSSD date wheel ended up slipping out of whack once it hits the teens, the bezel ended up spinning like a pinwheel, the screw down crown stopped screwing down.
I loved that rep to death wearing it despite all its growing flaws. After all it kept time and had such a presence!
Since discovering the real (such fun) world of reps last June and discovered reps could be maintained (doh), repaired, aged, upgraded etc I often bemoaned the fact that I had eventually thrown her out in the last purge of the household.
I knew I held her in my hand quite a while before I said goodbye and tossed her in one of the bin boxes.
Well, surprised to find that bin box in a cluttered garage corner, forgotten, and lo and behold there she still was!!!
So needless to say I have very fortunately just arranged to send her to a rep friendly guy here to see what he can do.
So, not remotely aware back then but now I think I know, a 2008 SSDS 116660, correct?
Who would know what version from what factory.
I still don't see the tells or flaws in many reps (but as you can tell I don't care that much ie misaligned date wheel, on a Rolex!?) and its not a question of QC now and so rather academic, but very curious what you brothers and sisters can point out.
